Well here it is, its taken a month or two to narrow it down, finally got it figured. Just picked it up from basspro, back down tomorrow to sight it in. Xbolt SS 7mm rem mag. Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 50mm sat on DNZ medium 1 piece mount. Can't wait to get out and test it on the hogs. Thanks for all the advice and info on my previous posts folks.

Nice rifle in a great all around cartridge!
Bed it, load 162 Amax and go forth and fill an ark!

what made you choose a 7mm mag as your first rifle?

If you wish to save your shoulders and ears try 120 grain projectiles w/about 60 grain of IMR 4350..should get you around 2000 fps and recoil like a 243..DD

Thanks guys, hopefully i'll take my first animal with it in the next few weeks. nice rifle.
what made you choose a 7mm mag as your first rifle? I wouldn't claim to be too knowledgeable in this area but it seemed like an obvious choice. From what i've read its capable of taking anything in North America, pretty flat out to 300 yards and widely available. You could say that for .270 or 30-06 i guess. The extra bit of power the mag affords is for the hogs. And that also gave me the 26" barrel which is a plus. That and the fact the first real rifle i fired was my FIL's Rem 700 BDL 7mm rem mag. Sat a hog at 200 yards first time, it was kinda hard to ignore those results!

7 mag was my first rifle also. No need for anything else.
I don't smoke ,so I can't say but I highly doubt it. I do know a loud fart works! I think they like the smell plus I guess they think it's a buck grunt. _________________________

You can only have too much ammo if you are on fire or swimming....
