I've owned chevys most of my life. I grew up with them every automotive company has some products with issues. Gm has always addressed these issue for me. I do see where your coming from though. As for it being an issue all the way up to be models i doubt it. As someone that was training to be a master tech before a war injury made me quit i can tell you that the brand isn't at fault. Every car maker has faulty designs and some go on for years.

Owned a '92 Chevy & put over 330K miles on it. Running great when I sold(gifted) it to a neighbor's son.

I'm just trying to help you avoid costly repairs on 2008 & newer AFM engines. There's something wrong with the engineering of the lifters that reduces engine life to 150K or less.

I have always had landcruisers and have been a huge fan of them but have always still owned GM trucks until my last duramax had to have 6 injectors replaced over 4 different visits all within 30,000 miles. After the last fix I traded it for a Tundra since I didn't really need a diesel anymore and have never looked back.

No issues with my chevy after 4.5 years and it gets 17.5 mpg city. The billy goat i had before was so cheaply made after 30k started to rattle apart and rode like a wagon and got 12.5 mpg on the same drive.Dont mention resale value. When the wheels fall off my chevy i will fix and park it and turn into a project then i will look into another one or possibly ford for daily driver

Between the fact that they are crap, and the bail out. I have a new found respect for Ford and Dodge.

The old man drives a Toyota full size, and I asked him if he felt weird buying a Japanese truck. His exact quotes were "why should I, taxpayers bailed out Chevrolet and a lot of their trucks are made in Mexico or Canada anyway. This truck is made in America, by American workers."

Yes, but neither Mexico or Canada ever killed 2400+ and wounded almost another 1300 of our fellow citizens in a sneak attack. FFT...

That's the way I feel about my Toyota. Whole different world, quality wise. All I've ever owned are GM trucks, this is my first "import" (not imported, made here in San Antonio). I have no complaints, should have done it years ago.

I drive a 2000 Chevy Z71 1500 Extended Cab. They recalled a tailgate strap about 5 years ago. None other recalls. Replaced the front right hub, a/c compressor and belt, and fuel pump. Otherwise that truck is pretty darn good. Wouldnt sell or trade it in even if they gave me triple whats it worth.

with that logic, I'm suprised you went out and bought another Ford after the last one crapped out.

I have had a 96, 00, 02, 07, 07 Tahoe, 08, and 10. Wheel hub assembly had to be replaced on the 02.

Ranch has a 94 Surburban with 290k that just made the trip to S Dakota, a 97' truck with 360k with few issues and a 02 with 260k with no issues.

Guess we have been lucky confused2

I had a 2008 chevy 1500 with the vortex max motor (6.0) new body style. Was trouble free for 95,000 miles and all of a sudden the motor would over heat, then would follow no power, transmission slippage, all the lights would go off, etc. Had it towed to the dealer because it would not restart after you turned it off. Well, after three dealerships, the problem was never fixed and traded the truck in. Had one manager tell me he refused to ride with me with the problems because we would not make it back (Huffines Chevy).

But, we had a 2005 6.0 1500HD go 260,000 miles completely stock and only replaced the alternator and battery.

I owned a 2007 Dodge Ram 4x4 Big Horn Edition. It had a 1/2 ton chassis yet 4x4. It also had the Magnum 4.7L motor in it. Now this was a quad cab truck & on the highway the best mileage I ever got was 16.5mpg & around 10-11mpg in the city! Furthermore, the transmission would always wind out in overdrive & Dodge said that there was nothing wrong with it except the motor was underpowered for the truck! Traded that sucker in quick with 90k miles on the odometer! My truck before that was a 2008 Chevy 4 door LT truck that I loved & the only reason I got rid of it was because I traded it in for my wife's dream car (2009 Dodge Challenger R/T) which we recently sold with 80k miles & the buyer put 1,000 miles on it before the timing chain snapped! Talk about crap! I'll never buy another Dodge again & don't get me started on Ford! Oh, I guess y'all already know that Fiat puts their motors in the smaller Dodge cars too? Yep.

Have had an 07 Tahoe, got the 11 Sierra in my sig, and just bought a 12 Sierra z71 last week. No problems. Love them all, especially the trucks.
Had an 03 Dodge that I hated. Only had a hub go out on it but still didn't like it at all.

Fords are too expensive. Won't ever own another dodge. Might look at Toyota if they weren't butt ugly.

That's exactly how I feel about Chevrolets! Never seen such a ugly front end and when you look down the side of the truck you see the crappy sheet metal they use comes pre-wrinkled, heck even the fender wells are ugly on them.

For once I like the look of all of them except toyota, always have and will be ugly in my mind.

If I was gonna buy one today gas or diesel it would be a ford. Unless it was a gas 3/4 ton and then it would be a toss up between ford and chevy.

Agreed, they have the same engine for 2013 that they offered in 1999, also the body style hasnt changed since 06 or 07.

I grew up being a chevy fan, dirt track racing and drag racing but today I'm a ford man
