Long story but my lil sis shot a javelina while on a gold star wives hunt down in hondo and she wants a euro done. Would like to do use Beatles but open to suggestions. Be awesome to get it done for a Xmas present. She lost her husband feb 28th 2011 and I been introducing her to the outdoors and that kinda therapy the woods provide. Can't spend a bunch but any direction to someone who does it near Greenville or surrounding area would be awesome. Thanks Clint It's head is frozen in the freezer. FYI. God bless

Beware someone that says they can get it done by Christmas. It will NOT be completely degreased in 3 weeks.

Why don't you do it yourself.............. save the coin and she might be extra happy when she knows you put in the time and effort. Not all that hard to do. Info all over the internet from taxidermists on how to do it. Small skull like that would be easy. +1 on the degreasing, if you rush it, it will come back to haunt later as it discolours.

I wouldnt think the grease/fat would be that big a problem, javi arent like pigs, they are much leaner like a deer.

Javelina are extremely greasy but you can do a pretty good job in 3 weeks. 1 day to clean 2 weeks to degrease, 1 day to bleach and glue the teeth back into place.
p.s. degreasing can take longer but it's not to big of a deal unless your a perfectionist.

It ain't about the fat on the meat it's the oils in the bone.

So how long does it take you to degrease a deer head for a euro?

Depends on the cleaning process and water temp but I macerate everything at around 100 degrees then degrease in dawn and ammonia at 120-140 or so and a normal deer can be 1-2 weeks to degrease depending on the deer. A big hog may take up to a couple months. There's faster ways but there's no less damaging way and grease will not leach out in six months.

Would love to but I'm recovering from a very extensive back surgery so I'm limited on what I can do. I have done euros on deer and regular hogs but I don't really have the time to do this one. Or the energy/strength. Unforntunutly (sp) Thanks

Ive done several deer from start to finish in less than 10 or 12 hours and they all look great several years down the road. Guess different strokes for different folks.

I'm lazy so boiling scraping boiling scraping ain't for me. I got about thirty minutes labor in a skull. It takes longer but less work for me to do and it cost just a few bucks cause I'm not buying propane and all the little sinus bones in the nasal cavity are in tact. For most people that doesn't matter cause they do the mount for the horns I do the mount because I like the skulls and the bone structure. If you ever don't have time to mess with boiling try it out its very easy.
