What does a typical deer cost you at the processor?
I usually do my own, but decided to take it somewhere this year.... $245 bucks for a quartered deer that weighed 52#... just seemed kind of high, but I really have no idea.
I had everything but the backstrap and the one hindquarter made into sausage.

Ouch, I had mine caped out, vacuumed sealed, 3lbs summer, 3lbs breakfast sausage, steaks etc. $135. I really would like to know what you paid for...

Seems high, but some of the "special stuff" runs the price up quick

I'm sorry to tell you, but it sounds like you paid too much. We pay $75(still too much) plus 2.60 per pound of pork that's added for sausage, so about $150-175 for the order you had.

I typically end up with an avg of $200 for a fully mature deer, but i do get a lot of the "special stuff".. I will go with 20lbs of breakfast sausage, 20lbs of smoked links, maybe 2-4 summer sausage, 1 strap whole, 1x tenderize, 2-5lbs. of jerky.. and the rest into ground 100% (no beef).. usually gets me right around if not above $200. Now, I just went to a new processor this year due to a new lease/location and their fee was $70 right out of the gates no matter if it were quartered or just field dressed. I dropped 175 on a middle aged doe with little to show for.. I guess those $10 packages of tamales add up quick! For what you had made, sounds a little high.

I just had 2 deer done and cost me $202. They were quartered and had the backstraps and loins done into cutlets, 20 lbs link sausage, 5 lbs of summer sausage and the rest in lean hamburger. Thought that was pretty cheap considering they probably charge a deboning fee.

I have picked up deer for the son and a couple of friends at different places in the Abilene area. The prices are crazy, at one I paid $60, at another it was $127.50, at the last one it was $97.50. 3 different processors, 3 prices, all field dressed and about the same amount of meat.

$75 for a gutted deer, with back-straps, tenderloin, hamburger and breakfast sausage grind. Where they get you is with the smoked sausage, summer sausage and jerky at $2.50-$5 per pound.

Kuby's charges $9.50 per quarter plus a per pound charge for sausage. Mine is usually around $120, with most of it made into sausage.

WOW Glad I process my own. We process 3-5 deer a year and make summer sausage, pan sausage, hamburger, cutlets, steaks, and jal. link sausage. At the most buying the casing and some pork " if we can't kill a couple hogs our selves" we spend $30-$40 .

It sounds to me like you payed about $75 to have it processed and about $170 for sausage which should be about 37 lbs at $4.50 a pound. I always look at prices wherever I take a deer. The specialty stuff can really add up fast! Took the wife's mule deer to a processor in the Panhandle and was shocked to get a price of .60 per lb. When I am use to paying $70 per head then I figured out that I pay $70 for a deer that probably (gutted, skinned and the head and lower legs removed) doesn't weigh 55lbs which figures out to $1.27 per lb

I just picked up my order. I had about 70lbs of qtrs. backstrap (small doe and spike) processed in to sausage, brawts and breakfast sausage - $206. Kuby's. That's the only place my wife will eat the venison from. They are a bit pricey but the quality and what they do is awesome.

My neighbor and I paid $75 each for one buck each, regular cut, no specialty meats. Same place in Springtown (JR's)

Dang, that's pretty high.
I payed about $80 for the regular processing fee and got some sausage on top of that. I think in all I payed about $116.
