Well, I'm finally reaching that stage of life where if I don't put something hard down on the calendar with 5-6 of my friends, I won't be able to have an opportunity to hunt/fish with them. Thus, we recently decided that we wanted to start doing an annual weekend/holiday weekend trip that is "out of the box." (aka not just going to the deer lease, ducking hunting someones stock tank, dove hunting around a stock tank, ect) However, being a bunch of poor recent college grads (2011), we're looking to do stuff pretty modestly priced as well. I have some pretty good ideas, and I am pretty confident I know what I have set for the 1st year but wanted to confer with ya'll to see if you had any other ideas. For while we're still trying to build up our "resources", my ideas include:

Floating/Fishing the Devils River
Goose Hunting (where would be a good location for this?)
Fly Fishing for Reds
South Texas Quail Hunt (any suggestions for outfitter?)
Chartering an offshore (any good suggestions for guys out of Port A?)
Duck hunt out of Rockport (any good suggestion guides?)

Down the road, once we've built up a little more financial resources:

Elk hunting in CO (suggestions on locations?)
Mule Deer hunting in CO (suggestions on locations?)
Fly fishing in Arkansas (suggestions on locations?)
Duck hunting in Arkansas/Iowa (suggestions on locations?)

Thanks for your help and P.M. if you want to keep your info confidential!

I'd recommend flounder gigging out of rockport. Me and three of my othe college buddies went this summer and it was awesome. I think the guide was night stalker guide service and he was freaking awesome. Definitely affordable. We're all 23-25 yr old college guys

Get you some on the devil's. Awesome adventure, especially if no one in your group has ever done it. Get ready to live...

Devils River has been on my list of things to do for awhile, so that gets my vote.

Great idea on the flounder gigging. I think that could even be cheap enough to do as a combo with the fly fishing for reds.

I've done that Devils trip before, and it is a lot of fun. Nothing like hooking up on some smallies!
