Me and a buddy pulled one out of a low fence a couple weeks ago. Hip was out of place by the time we got there and got her out. Came back a few hours later and she was still in the same spot so we called the sheriff and got the ok to put her down... Only prob with that is I would have rather put a tag on it then leave it on the side of the road. I think that law should have some leeway when it comes to wasting good meat.

Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

This is just another example of why spikes need to be taken out of the gene pool. stir

I agree, no need to waste. Or at least let the GW kill it and donate the meat.

happens in high fences and low fences with mesh wire. I have pulled live ones out and seen dead ones when they run into a fence and they get hung up. Mostly spikes have this problem but have pulled out some goats as well

We had 3 different deer caught by their back leg in our feed pens last year. Never seen one caught in a pen before and had 3 in just a few weeks. It was very strange. Never had one since either. We have cattle panel pens with no wire at the top. One of ours was a mature buck too, very odd.

There is! Call your game warden. He can give you a tag for the deer and let you take it. He'll most likely keep any antlers, but you can keep the rest. Best part is that you don't even have to use one of your tags.

What I really want to know is, did he even measure the fence? How do we know it was really a HF at all? Did we ever determine what height a HF was actually a HF anyway?

Our place is high fenced on a few sides by our neighbors. Over the past 4 years, I've seen:

- 1 young buck hung up in the HF.
- 1 doe attempt to make the jump and bounce off and fall on her keister and walk away
- 1 large 6 pointer go through a small hole in the middle of the fence like it was never there.
- 3 does go under via a hole made by pigs
- and 1 8 pointer clear the HF without even a thought and never even clipped it.

I don't know...seeing how the HF was put their by our neighbors I find myself cheering on the underdogs to get past it. It happens more than not (when it is attempted).

DAYUM. He's got it cleared by a foot. I will say, that appears to be a 6' and not SN 8' fence but a helluva jump none the less.

Agreed, the back legs roll up in the double top strands. Cut two deer out last year at my uncles place in harper.

Edit: they were both alive and ran like h*ll when I cut the wires

Apparently, they had the HF force field disabled or that could never happen.
