depends how they are treated...I would not really call any cow "nice" though. They are to dumb to be mean or nice IMO. They are just cows. Generally cows are pretty suspicious of people unless they are raised as pets...unless they think they are getting fed

I had some people lease a place I run cows a few years ago. One of them got all histerical about my cows attacking him. Only thing in that pasture was some angus cows that might lick you to death. If you think a cow or bull is getting too close to you raise your arms above your head. Scares the heck out of them.

Cows can, tho not always, be very protective of their calves. Some bulls can just be aggressive. But most all just think you are going to feed them.
DO NOT turn your back on them. Just jeep an eye on them, their posture and their eyes. The body language will usually tell you what they are up to.

Almost got run over while feeding. I was in a rush, but won't be in a hurry next time. OP, most likely just wanted food. However, you can occasionally get a crazy, territorial bull. We had a couple that were absolutely nuts when I was a kid. Would chase me anytime I rode by on my 3-wheeler (does having a 3-wheeler show my age?). Raise your hands and if it doesn't back away, then you back away. Pretty simple.

When you cake mine you better watch out they will walk right over you. Where wilder ones will be more stand offs til you leave.

Just saw the nuts. It was a bull not a cow good thing that isn't all the bull saw of you!! May have been a different story. Heck, the bull prolly back with the cows say'in I almost stomped the chit out of a 2 legged tree today!!! (if you where in camo) I've had territorial cows and bulls, but usually more with someone they weren't familiar with, likely as the guys said, looking for range cubes.

My hunting guest phoned me on the way to his stand saying "cows have the trail to the stand blocked", I just hung up the phone. They eventually gave him the right of way.
Danged hogs been messing up the yard!

He probably wanted cubes.
I can't stand the cows a one of our places. They are out under the feeders every evening unless we close them off. Some mornings they are there too. The day before I hunt I try to pull them off the field but they are dumb and stubborn. I just put some rocks in a bucket and shake it and they follow me through the gate.

My grandpa used to have a (I believe) Simmetal (spelling?) and that sucker was huge! Every bit of 6 ft to the top of his back and it was the craziest meanest SOB bull I have ever been around. It would paw the dirt and start blowing snot out of its nose when you showed up to feed them. God that bull always terrified me and I was so happy when they finally got rid of that fence jumpin SOB. Point of my story is yes they can kill you rather quickly and I've seen plenty crazy ones that wouldn't mind and have no fear of people. Especially be careful in the dark, I'm not sure what happens but they get even meaner if they don't really see what it is moving through the pasture.

I cracked a damn cow in the face with a mesquite limb a few weeks ago. She and her friends spooked my deer and she was the only one dumb enough to let me get that close. So i let her have it!

NEVER turn your back on a cow or bull. I've had them get a little close to me, raise your arms and holler, they'll usually back off. One of our neighbors was trampled to death by her cows, she was in her eighties and had fallen down with range cubes in a 5 gallon bucket. Sad deal.

I had a brahman cow charge me once. I was swinging wide around a tank to jump some ducks towards my friends. While in the middle of an open pasture I realized she was charging me from behind. I looked around for a tree and then realized it was me or her. Luckily she charged my buds when they started yelling. Idk if 3" #3's would kill a cow, but I'd have tried!
Hell, I lived around cows my whole life, but sometimes you need to run!
