Anyone have any experience with the new Fords? I was thinking of buying one of the new ecoboost FX4 trucks. I pull a 12' trailer with my 2 four wheelers is all. Will that truck handle it? Will it destroy the mileage? Is it a dependable truck?

I looked at one last year when I bought my Powerstoke and was very impressed. Lots of power, comfortable ride and everything. If it wasn't for my fifth wheel I probably would have bought one, but figured that's a little much for a gas truck.

I have a friend that pulls a 24' enclosed trailer with one.His only complaint was a drop in fuel mileage, but its a tall trailer & he drives 70-75mph.I think with a small trailer you would'nt have much drop in fuel mileage.
As far as problems.I work at a dealer & we have probably sold over a hundred and only had one that came back.It had a problen with a timing solenoid sticking, which was easly fixed with a new part under warranty.

i work at a ford dealership and before i started here i told myself there was now way in hell i would buy a truck with a V6 in it. well i test drove a new Ecoboost and all i can say is i am a proud owner of a new FX2 with a ecoboost. Theese trucks have so much power. i Have put a cold air intake, removed the resonator and have put a livernois programmer on it and the truck will run a 13.00+or- 1/4 mile!!!!!! if you dont believe it check out the videos on You Tube!!!

and some people wonder why they have transmision/motor/truck problems... that truck no matter how nice good or power full wasnt made or intended to be on a drag strip.

Eco Boost is just a name for the way they spray gas into the motor.

Diesel motors are way more efficient then gas. They finally came up with a way to inject gasoline into the chamber and have it explode like diesel does. Without relying on the spark plug to do it all.

There's always gas that doesn't get burned with just the spark plug. So, they have made to where they get most of the gas to ignite. That saves fuel, more power, better efficiency.

So in layman terms, they are running a gas motor like a diesel. Ford just calls it EcoBoost.

GM, Ford, Dodge....their all doing it.

Ecoboost uses a turbo, variable cam timing,& direct injection to improve power & fuel mileage.

I got over 14 pulling about 4k lbs of lumber to hebronvile in mine(2011 chevy 1500 crew 4x4 with 3.42 rear end)

If you drive it hard anything will get poor fuel milleage.

I just bought a 2013 4X4 with eco boost got 1200 miles on it. Getting about 17.2 miles per gal has a 36 gal tank. I haven't pull anything yet. I have a 12' trailer with a polaris Ranger and a 20.5 fresh and salt water boat to pull. I talk to dealer and he said that it will pull 11,000lbs same as big v8s has 365 hp. we'll see and I let u know.

I have a 2012 and it has plenty of power. My usual pull is a 14 foot low boy with fully loaded Ranger Quad and several ice chest along with feed. I only get about 9 pulling that load at about 70

Hogger, be sure you needlessly jack it up about 4-8 inches, too.

If you want gas milage get a car gezzzzzzz lol i drove the ecoboost and wasnt impressed at all. Ill keep my z71s or V8 and diesels all day long. I dont keep trucks stock so fuel milage wont matter i like big tires and wheels on all mine and a maybe im old fashioned but a V6 shouldnt be in a truck even if its faster. If i want fast ill get a vette

I looked at them over a year ago they are nice but I went with a Dodge crew cab 4wd. Before I put the 10ply tires and aftermarket rims on my truck I was getting around 17-18 while pulling a very heavy duty 12' trailer or our 16' trailer with my dodge. I still get 15-16 now driving like I stole it. The new rams have air ride and 25mpg ratings on them so I've heard. If you intend to pull on occasion then the ecoboost isn't bad.

that is what i used to think too. i will put my ecoboost up against any truck. hell it has more HP and torque than the same truck in the v8
