I have an SA-08, not the waterfowler, it is a great gun for the price. Very easy to take apart and clean, and reliable cycling and ejection.

I am new to duck hunting, and I am not looking to stir any pot, but i kid you not I have hunted with guys this season that have had $1k+ benellis/berettas jam while my $465 weatherby is busy shooting ducks. I am very pleased...I did a lot of research before the purchase, and I will also note my budget would have afforded me a more expensive gun had I wanted one.

I bought a few SA-08's as "buddy" guns, and have already been through 2 different recalls. When I got the second recall letter I just about threw all of them out of my truck window while crossing Ray Hubbard bridge.

Save your money for a little bit longer and get the good stuff. I know we all have different experiences, but I find it hard to believe that any model Benelli is an inferior gun to the SA-08.

I have had a 20ga SA-08, daughter started with it, I shot it, nephew shot, niece is now shooting it. It probably has close to or over 10,000 rds thru it, duck loads, target loads, heavy dove loads, and low recoil loads and it has never hiccuped once. I ordered the adult stock for it since it was a youth model, $55 from Weatherby, and I have had up to 5 guys shooting it in one day, each putting 200-300 rds thru it during the shooting session, and it never quit or even slowed down.

There is nothing wrong with the SA-08, if you have even rudimentary skills with a shotgun there is no reason it won't run.

Never said it wouldn't run, mine ran just fine. But I think after 2 factory recalls it's fair to say that there is something wrong with it. And that's not me talking either, that's Weatherby.

The Weatherby SA-08 is basically a Turkish, economized copy of the Berretta A301 rebranded and distributed under the Weatherby umbrella. There is nothing wrong with that shotgun and, in fact, you will probably like it... Maybe A LOT.

You may have to actually use your hands to adjust the gas system, which is apparently a really major flaw.

Also, it will not chamber the really expensive 3.5" Black Cloud magnums.

DO NOTE that there is a range of serial numbers that have been identified by Weatherby as having the potential to accidentally discharge under certain conditions. Look here for more info: http://www.weatherby.com/sa08safety
