Really need a hard freeze for things to pick up. Still seems like there is just to much out there to eat. It does get discouraging. I can count on two hands the number of deer I have seen at the feeder during shooting hours. Had a ton of deer all summer, then right before bow season everything slowed way down on cam for everyone on our lease.

on cams...so don't always trust what is or is not out there! You have to be out there!!

Ok....Since you asked...

I was all geared up and ready for the season. And then......

Mother in-law comes down from Kansas so we had to do the family thing. Then, I had to go to Toronto Canada on business. Then, I was doing some work to get ready to go and I made a wrong move and separated the ligaments in the left side of my rib cage from my ribs. Talk about a painful injury. Went to doctor Monday and Doc says 4-6 more weeks of healing time.

I might get to go to a friends place and hunt if I can get to where I can move around better. And, if I can arrange help to get a deer out of the field and cleaned once I put it down.

Otherwise, I guess I'll be living vicariously through you guys this season. frown

Good Luck Guys !!

Hunt Safe, Have Fun !

I jumped a legal eight point opening weekend. Couldn't get a shot. Had a young four point spend the day with me last week. I took a 3 year old spike last saturday, the first legal buck I had a chance at all season.

My frustration level is rising. Been hitting the stand every weekend and have only seen 1 doe during shooting hours. Absolutely no bucks during daylight, except a couple of times when I was not in the stand of course and see them on my camera.. I know the bucks and deer are here, but so far nothing to show for it.

How about you other guys? Have the hunting Gods been kind to you or no?

What part of the state are you in?

We've got 4 does, 1 spike and 2 bucks in the deep freeze...most came over Thanksgiving week. Mills county, near Caradan.

I've been out to hunt the past 3 weekends at different properties. Fairfield Tx was super doe heavy with a couple young bucks in chase. Chester Tx was a complete skunk hunt...saw nothing, but birds. Bowie Tx was also doe heavy and I saw a good sized young buck who didn't meet AR and another buck who was questionable on AR, but just wasn't a very good looking guy. I went ahead and took an old doe out there just to get some meat in our freezer. I'll be heading back to Bowie in a couple weeks. Hopefully I can get lucky.

I have seen a lot of different bucks this year, just waiting on the right one.

I was lucky opening week in Houston County. Shot a good 8 point with the wife in the blind (made it that much better) and shot a fat doe a few days later.

Nada here.... yet. Hunting has been tough this year. I've passed on 2 small 8s and a spike. Very few doe have been seen.

I haven't even loaded a rifle yet. Dec. 10th it is on though. I have 5 weeks off and plan to hunt at least half of the days I have off. Deer hunting is getting me through finals right now.

I finally saw an awesome shooter in Santa Anna this last weekend, only it was 20 minutes after dark. We were driving back to camp. Can't wait to call in sick in a few weeks when the moon goes away

My 10 year old is shooting my deer this year. Needless to say, he has been battling buck fever.

I've hunted very weekend and a few weekdays in Tayor county. All the bucks only show up at night. I passed on 1 young buck and that was it. I have seen some does but trying to hold out another week or two on those. They live there and figure they are better bait than corn right now.

I have only seen one at the new lease I am on this year. Narrow 6 point. Tall points but too dang narrow to meet AR. Saw one yearling doe. Other than that out of 16 hunters one spike is down...pretty lame

I have not killed a buck in YEARS. It's not for a lack of trying, or for a lack of deer. I have seen a bunch of "good" deer, but I am looking for a GREAT buck. Maybe I am being too picky, but there are plenty of does to be killed if I need meat!

I have a small property in Dickens county a one buck county and Unfortunately I had to take a management buck as I was sure no one else would have taken him and I didnt want him mating. He was a 6 point( 1/2 inch points 3 on each side) on a near verticle rack 18" tall. He was about 3 years old.

Did my part for the gene pool and now I'm watching some nice 8 and 10 points that I cant shoot. I guess theres next year.
