I think they taste like crap but look cool on the wall. I'm looking for a nice Catalina for the wall now.

My Nephews love to hunt the cheap sheep/goats and my wallet approves.

Love it !!! true statement.
If you know the outcome it's not hunting, it's called shooting.

Because many of them started as someone's lawn-ornaments. They can be a kick in the pants to hunt if in established herds and get some pressure. They are never as smart as a mouflon or aoudad, but still fun. Problem is so many are put-n-take animals that started life on a small property habituated to humans. . . doesn't exactly make them too wild.

Which places are they actually wild at? That in a nutshell is the general problem with inexpensive sheep and to a lesser degree even the trophy sheep. It's very hard to know what you'll be getting unless you know the outfiteer or ranch. You really need to do a lot of investigating and ask a lot of questions.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

i will plug txnrog's ranch, kent creek, once again.
if someone is looking for a real, fair chase hunt for a mouflon sheep, the only "wild" sheep in texas, then that is the place to go.
I sell ranches for a living and kent creek is one of the prettiest places i've ever been too.
you won't be dissapointed

Thx for the plug Txtrophy. We had corsicans in one pasture when we got the place that were pretty wild (for corsicans) - easy rifle hunts, but challenging with a bow. Shot them off years ago and tried releasing rams from the auctions, but you really ended up with some unintelligent critters. Once the mouflons showed up, we quit messing with the 'cheap' sheep altogether.

Aoudad are closely related to sheep and goats, but are technically neither.
