I took my girlfriend back home with me over thanksgiving in hopes of getting her a big north texas bruiser. We sat wed-fri and didn't see too much action, a lot of doe and a couple young guys. We were heading out saturday around noon so our initial plan was to just get some rest for the road and call it quits. I woke up that morning at 530 realizing we were about to NOT GO HUNTING and quickly got everything together and headed out like any responsible hunter with a brain. It was the last hunt so I took every precaution. I parked the truck about a mile away, didn't utter a sound all morning (quite a task with my girl), and got in the stand about an hour before shooting light.

As luck would have it, as soon as the sun started peeking over the horizon. A nice big-bodied deer came trotting straight at us from the other side of the wheat field we were setup on. I handed her the gun and casually told her to look at him through the scope and asked if she could see him. She replied, "yes" with an excited peep. I told her I was going to stop him and if she had a shot to go ahead and take it. I called to him, he stopped and looked, and about 3 seconds later she SMOKED him. He took about 10 steps and was dead before he hit the ground. It was an amazing experience and I truly think she's a changed woman for life.

I haven't had a more exciting, fulfilling experience in all my years of hunting solo. It was amazing.

Great buck...Why doesn't that woman have a ring on her finger?

Way to go.....gotta get more ladies and kids involved. You've introduced her to something she will never forget. That memory will be with her a long time, even if she ends up leaving you later smile
