I am the resident gun expert in my family and at my church. Anytime anyone has any question about guns, (what/where/how to buy/fix/shoot), they come to me. Normally I can send them in the right direction.
My Pastor has requested my help selling his deceesed son's AK-47. I know almost nothing about these rifles. I want to get him a fair deal for it, but I don't know where to start.
It is a Century Arms AK-47 style rifle in 7.62x39. Black polymer stock set. Standard straight stock design. Slant muzzel break.
Either only fired once or maybe not at all. His son purchased the rifle and was deployed to Afganistan shortly after. This rifle wasn't anything special to the son, that is why my pastor has no problem selling it. He is keeping the fully customized AR-15 that his son loved.
Any ideas?

Normally you would be looking around $450 for that rifle, but with the political climate they are going higher right now. Your best bet at this time is to have him list it on gun broker with an opening bid at $450 and let the masses drive it up from there.

I was thinking about $450 - $500 range.
Last time I thought about getting an AK $350 was high. That was back when I had money; before I was married and when "W" was in the White House.
I figured the price had gone up, but wasn't sure how high.

Post it here in the classifieds. If it is a WASR I'd ask $450 and take the 1st offer over $400. The guy has no money in this and spending more time on trying to eek out the most he can from it isn't really worth the hassle and wouldn't be very pastor like.

He just asked me to sell it for him. His exact words were "What's the easiest way to sell it?" I sugested to carry it down to the next gun show. His next question was "Can you come with me?"
I just want to make sure it's a fair deal. I don't want him to be screwed, and I'm not the type of person to screw someone else. I'm just looking for what a fair price is right now. I'm not getting anything out of this except helping out my friend. I think he is either giving the money to a vet. charity like WW or just to the church.

He could donate it to a benefit shoot. I know people do this all the time at sporting clay shoots. But never seen an AK47 before.
