Ok so I've been looking at trucks and the year 2008 is all that's in my budget around13-15k so I need a 4 door truck that looks good and will give me minimal if any problems I'm leaning towards the 2008 ford 4 door what y'all think ? I want a truck to haul stuff when needed but 4 doors when that day comes to have children

IMO You cant beat F150 supercrew.Great trucks.I've had two with the 4.6 v8 & no problems.Good gas mileage for a v8 truck.

What about the 5.4 triton ?

If they have been serviced good engines.If they have not been serviced (ie. regular oil change,tune up , ect)you can see engine problems after 100k. But it is not unusual to see a 5.4 with 250-300k miles still running strong.For me the 4.6 has enough power & gets good fuel mileage.I have a Powerstroke for towing,but I often use the 4.6 f150 for short trips with a stock trailer or lowboy.

Can't beat a F150. I have a 1997 4.6 V8 with over 250K miles; oil changes every 3K. 2008 F150 should work great.

I have a '06 Chevy Crew cab Z71 and I love it. Very easy to work on.

I don't like extracting spark plugs from the newer ford V8's (2004+)

I believe you'll find the 4 door Ford will have more rear seat room than anything else. Dodge Megacab will be close. Maintenance is the key to service on any of them.

Mega cab has More backseat room than any ford.

This is true for 2012 & 2013 - 0.9" more head & 5" leg - but the Mega Cab Dodge cost more than the crew cab Dodge.

Crew Cab to Crew Cab was a toss up - Dodge has 0.4" more head but Ford had 2.5" more leg room.

but....in 2008

F150 CC had 41.3 leg & 39.6 head while Dodge Mega was 40.5 leg and 41 head.....another toss up and the mega cab cost extra...

so I say a pretty close draw "room wise" for what he's looking for!

you meant the half tons.

my broker drives a mega cab 2500 and his brother drives a CC F-150....i'd saw there pretty close to equal as far as back seat room goes.

the new half tons are very roomy. I thought we were talking about superduty's vs. the mega cab, in which the dodge wins.


Hate to say it but the dodge laramie longhorn may be the nicest truck on the market right now. these are 2011's though

True, the tundra does as well but they both look un proportionate

If the suggested 5w20 oil is used in the triton v-8's they are ultra reliable. I have also been told by some good mechanics that the spark plugs are not an issue if the engine is allowed to cool overnight before the plugs are removed. I was a diehard Dodge man until recently but Ford has proved itself to me over and over lately. After 7 Dodge diesels since 1997 I ordered a 2012 F350 Lariat Powerstroke in Sept. and you could not get me to go back. Ford has their stuff together and I think they have since 2006 or so.

I have a 06 Lincoln LT which is basically a F-150 with diff grill and trim. 180K doing great.

Toyota Tundra. I have an 07 and I haven't done anything to it other than new tires and oil changes. The thing is bulletproof at 100k. And the brakes are far better than whan you can get on Ford. I drove em all before I spent my money.

I've always had great luck with the Dodge

Titan 5.6 crew 4 door 2007 and up. Rolling 147 on an 04. Truck is a beast with a little TLC.
