I got a nice doe this weekend at the lease and she had a really clean coat on her. Decided I would get it tanned if the price was right. I did not scrape it at all and took it to Blanco Taxidermy. guy said 125 bucks, seemed pretty fair to me, considering it would have been a ton of work to scrape it myself. He said they will run it through a fleshing machine and then ship it to a tannery. Is 125 a pretty fair price? I know everyone on here says ship it to North Texas Tannery but I did not want to deal with all that, rather let the pro's handle the leg work I guess.

he will more than likely ship it to North texas tannery himself, and charge you a little for doing the leg work. i got an axis done there last year, pulled it off the animal rolled it up, took it to them (you can ship if your not close) and got it back in the mail, all for $45.00 (seems pretty cheap compared to $125), and he will be doing the same thing...

That is about right in price. In the time it takes us to flesh, salt and ship the item we as taxidermists do not make much on these. But it is worth it the the customer. The tanneries do such a nice job on them.

Thats what I figured, I knew the tannery did it cheaper, but to me the price seems right to have a hide that will last a long time
