I noticed that over the past couple of days the most activity seems to be happening around 10 AM to noon. Be patient. We've seen some really nice deer come from Llano this year.

Sorry for the late update, I got great reception the first day then it got cloudy and bye bye cell phone.
Well the long hunting weekend was awesome and quite a learning experience. It started on saturday when i started the thread and that morning started at being in the stand at 5:30am, saw two doe at first and one small eight. Then about 9:45 I was about to break stand for breakfast as we had decided to hunt early afternoon and about 180 yards away I saw a nice mature doe standing behind the protein feeder, well then I broke out the Remington 770 .270 to see how she would do and wow, for such an inexpensive rifle that thing is pretty accurate. Shot behind the shoulder and when I gutted her I found that I had split the heart in two. After getting that deer dressed out we hit satnds again about 1:30pm. This is were the learning comes into play. I had been watching a pair of yearling for about two hours and was getting a liitle restless so I decided to read some of my book(it ussually makes me sit still). Well about ten minutes into reading my book I look up and wouldn't you know it there is a buck there that is 12 points and about what looked to be atleast a 19" to 20" spread walking through. So i put the .270 cross hairs on him and squeeze the trigger and ...................... nothing happened!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhh I had forgotten to turn the safety to fire, by the time I figured that out and was able to get the gun up again he had already moved behind some brush. I was mortified. Well the rest of the weekend I only saw small bucks and lots of yearling with their moms but not that big one again. But my buddy did take I really nice wide ten the next day. We also had a great time trapping coons and trying to trap some hogs(not to many around were we hunt). So got to take home some great meat and enjoy a even greater weekend with some very close friends doing what we love. Rest assured I will be out as soon as possible to try and snag that big one though, lets just say lesson learned on this trip.

I am sorry to hear about that, but glad to hear you got a good doe for the meat. Same thing happened to me a couple of years back, I was hog huntng and a nice boar came in to feed at abut 50yrds So I get the gun ready, cocked back the hammer, settle the crosshairs on his head, begin to squuuueeeeeeeeeze and CLICK! I didn't take off the safety, I was shooting my marlin 45-70 guide gun, so neddless the say the boar and a sow and her piglet that came in with him all ran off after they heard the loud click. We waited to see if they'd come back so we could have another shot at them but they very returned that night. It happens, live and learn.
