I've gotten several pictures of this 10 point this fall on the new ranch. I think he's only a 3 1/2 yr old buck and around 135 on score, which gets me really excited to see what he can do over the next year or two. What do y'all think?

Heres the only decent one I have of him looking at the camera to get a look at his spread.

I don't know how to score well based on pics like this, but he is def older than 3.5 yo.

Look at his knees in the head on pic, knobby means older. His nose is almost stubby/roman, which means older. His back is slumped at little at the shoulders, he has a little pot-belly to him, and he has a nice rump...all these things point to this deer being at least 5.5yo, possibly even 6.5yo.

I would dirt check him and see how old his teeth look...

Great looking buck. I agree on score. Are the dates on the camera correct? He looks much older than 3 in the first pic to me.

I have seen yearling bucks with knobby knees so you can't always go by that.

I think at most he is 4 1/2. Here is a picture of an 8 pt that I think is a 5 1/2-6 1/2 yr old deer

Alright, i get what you all are saying. I would still say he is older than 3.5. Still would like to see more than pics to age him, seems most of the pics on here with teeth to age show the buck much older than the pics showed. I don't know though, maybe teeth aging isn't as reliable or is more variable given certain geopgraphy...

I agree, that deer is old. But given the angle of the first pic, the first deer may look a lot like the second pic. I see the same skin folds in the neck and the same belly ont hat first deer as the second. about the only thing I cant see is the thicker brisket, but we can;t see that given the angle of the first pic anyway. And the second pic is closer than the first.

What you may not be factoring in is the time of the year the pics were taken. Those deer are extremely fat and will look different today. They may look much older or younger. I also think that the buck in the top 3 pics has the appearance of being older due to the way he is standing. Which is a relaxed posture. The only pic he looks old is the first one. The other 2 he looks more of his age I think.

I would agree with the 3.5 and the score.

Sway back, heavy bone on top of his head and a good gut, he is probably near what he will ever be.
