After being up in Arkansas for the last 5 days, I wanted to share something with you guys.
There has been alot of post on here about Duck Dynasty, Duck Commander guys, and Topwaters.
As some of you know, and some may not, my Cousin films for them, and has for several years now. I know them a little better than what you see on TV or film sometimes. These guys are life changers. Forget the hunting part. I mean life changers. Phil and them helped my Cousin Lyle kick a bad problem. They didnt kick him on the streets, they helped. Most would have turned their backs on someone. They treated him like family.

With that being said, there will always be newbies to this sport. Weather they pick it up from a friend, or get it from watching Duck Dynasty or whatever. But bottom line is, this sport alot of us have been doing our whole life, could be the difference in helping someone else down the right path or fill a void hole.

They aint hating on the family they are hating their success. I got no problem with them, what they have accomplished and wht they like to do. I would in fact liked to have hunted with them, if Si was along. He reminds me of the old timers in my life. Good folks, funny as all get out and loves to hunt. He served our country in Viet Nam, God bless the man.

I'm not hating on them or their success. I watch the show every week and get a kick out of it.

In my original post I was hating on the guys that put out their decoys the day before opening day, which were still out last Wednesday when I went scouting. I was hating on the new guys that have no etiquette because they know nothing about duck hunting.

My assumption, whether right or wrong, was that these yahoos wouldn't be duck hunting if they hadnt watched the show.

People start hating on the robertsons and then you have guys that jump on the band wagon and start having something to say, all I have to say is there are bad apples in any sport, but you can't blame anything that someone does from watching a reality show. Bottom line is if you have a problem with someone new to this sport find something new to do. We were all newbies at some point in duck hunting no matter how you heard about it from a family member or a show.

Lyle K Sinkey I remember that episode of Duck Commander. What Phil did for Lyle was awesome. I grew up in West Monroe, lived the first 31 years of my life there and never met Phil or any of his folks as far as I know, but I didn't duck hunt and didn't run in the duck hunting circles when I lived there. I knew that Phil was a man of God even back then.....hope to meet them some day.......

That's beyond awesome. Anyone who can give someone else a hand in beating the devil is just amazing in my book. Excellent post.

Great story! Showed it to my son because from what I know about Phil Robertson I think he is a great role model for our youth.

Awesome post! The Director of a church camp I'm really involved in grew up down the street from the Robertson's and went to their church! Good all around christian people!

I believe they are good people and anybody with that much patience to help a desperate man and turn him into a brother...well just wish there were more men of such conviction in this world.

They don't really even duck hunt on the show anymore now. Not sure how a lot if people would watch it and say "I want to go duck hunting" when the show doesn't show much if any duck hunting. Just my 2cents.

To be honest I always bought the DVDs cause they were funny and did things a little different. I can watch anyone film duck hunting but they are just entertaining people.

I was thinking the same thing but like I said in an earlier post I think the big box retailers; mainly Bass Pro, are gambling on more duck hunters from this based on the amount of new duck hunting gear I'm seeing them add to their line up. Someone also said that they think these forums have a lot to do with more turnout. School is still out on that thought but I suppose it could be part of the equation.......
