I have a small Drake Waterfowl bag. Much to my dissapointment it is not water proof. I hunt messy stuff, lots of rain, high winds.
What say ye as far as a good, waterproof blind bag? Not too big.

I like my LL Bean Flyway II Bag. I got it as a gift at a corporate dove hunt. It can be bulky to carry, but the shoulder strap is padded. The bottom is plastic so you can set it down in the muck and then hose it off. Also, this weekend it did not leak. We had a front move through on Sunday morning and my snacks stayed dry. I dropped it out of the decoy sled opening morning and nothing inside broke. It holds 100 rounds, calls, cleaning rod, gloves and an extra beanie. I also carry a folding saw for brushing.
I have a smaller one that I use for jump shooting in New Mexico. That one came from DU. I like the shell loops on the outside because I can reload quickly, but I don't think it is comfortable with a bunch of shells.

Same here. Tried a few blind bags. Like my Cabelas bag the most.
But right now im just packing a wallyworld camo backpack. They usually have a nice loop on the top to hang them from a tree limb or a hook in a blind.

I enjoy my game winner bag. Has the dry area and a bottle holder that will hold a 2 liter sized liquor bottle. Plenty of room too...

are the bags water proof?
I cant use a bucket because they are clumsy in a boat.
Why would anyone make duck gear that isnt waterproof?

I've tried a few of each and haven't found anything that is waterPROOF. Even if it is pretty waterproof, if you open it in the rain to get something out it will get water in it. If you want something truly waterproof, get an ammo box....and never open it.

I had a red head blind bag that I couldn't keep dry no matter what I tried. It was the kind with the dual zippers.
I won a large drake blind bag from Benelli. It is all kinds of greatness. The strap is not plastic. It has held up extremely well. The top flaps over. If you zipper the top so that the zippers are in the middle and the flap goes over them, it stays dry. I've even had it drug through the mud and it came out dry. But when I zipper one side all the way to the other, that exposes that small slot between the zippers and it gets some water in it if it is raining. I guess it is all the way you use it. Sounds like you had problems with yours.

I've had a Drake XL for going on it's 9th season now (that just made me feel really old!). The first 5 years I had it, I hunted hard and it was used and abused. The plastic cover/pouch on top has a tear in it, but that's expected with a thing plastic like that. I have no complaints and would buy another on in a heart beat. Maybe it was made differently because it's one of the originals. I've never had water get in it because of product failure. User error, now that's a different story.
Fact of the matter is, duck hunting is is wet, nasty, cold, muddy, etc. (if done right in my opinion). No bag is going to be water proof all the time. I keep extra socks and under shirt in a big ziplock in the boat incase i get wet. Everything is subject to the elements.

I snagged a Gander Mountain bag on sale last year after my old off brand one tore up. It has the rubber bottom that wraps around about 2 inches up the sides so mud and a little water create zero problems. I haven't had it in a lot of water but it's plenty big and seems very sturdy so far. I went through 2 blind bags in 4 years so long lasting is what I was going for...

I've been using the Redhead brand blind bag from bass pro. I bought because I had a gift card and like to carry a lot of gear so it is a pretty big bag. They make smaller versions though. I'm very happy with, i've never had water leak into it. Also have some older avery bags that are small (which is why I upgraded) and they did the job well. Like said before, if you want to save some money then get an ammo box.

I'm using a final approach back pack so it leaves me free of both hands and not walking lopsided x2 on the FA backpack and my stuff has stayed dry. Plus you can hang it in a tree or use it as a headrest for goose hunting. I also like the built in duck hangers on the strap. One less thing to carry in your hand. I have all my gear and ducks on my backpack, so I'm only having to carry my gun and decoys(and chair if necessary) in my hand.

I own this bag in Max 4 and absolutely love it. A buddy gave it to me a few years ago and I have literally drug it all over we ground, boats, and blinds. If I ever lost it or wore it out, I'd replace it with one just like it. The backpack is the way to go IMHO.

I own Avery and FA blind bags and I am partial to the FA. I tried to find the one I have online and could not locate it. Not water proof but resistant. Its about 5 years old so that could be the reason.

thanks. I know nothing is entirely water proof, but it should hold up against typical boat splashes and a little rain...

I have a Boyt, it has held up to being over stuffed, drug thru briars, blowing out of the boat, being sunk, and just about anything else you can dream up. Boyt Waterfowl Backpack It will hold way more than you will want to carry though.
