Hunting pretty near Paint Rock, just wondering what you guys have seen? Any good deer thus far?

I hunt just south of Paint Rock. I have been in Kansas, but got a call on my way in and we had two nice bucks hit the ground this weekend. Rut has started.

One was a 136" eight pointer and the other was a 137" eleven

I'm heading out to Eden on Friday. Early reports are the rut is just starting.... I've heard the horns are great this year...you know how that goes...

Antlers are above average this year on my place. Rancher called tonight and said the rut is in full swing. Should be a good weekend.

Unfortunately I haven't been up there and haven't seen the ones taken. Hopefully someone will send me pics of them soon and I will post them.

We must be neighbors, I've been seeing that same buck on the cameras. Glad to see somebody put him on the ground! I agree though, this weekend should be a darn good one.

cheers JC

You must be close. He was one that didn't travel much the last two years...more of a home body than some of our other that roam. Couple of his running buddies are worth taking too.

We are right off of Co Rd 4503. I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled this weekend. You guys haven't by chance put down this big crab clawed 8 have you?

Also, I think this guy might be an offspring of your last age/score buck. Pretty cool if so!

And don't worry, neither of us hunting on our place will be putting that good young buck down. There are PLENTY of spikes on our place that will be getting the rifle though.

Yep, you are pretty dang close to us up

Haven't seen the crab claw, but he will hit the ground if he comes over and that is a nice young buck. Love seeing those.

The kicker deer had a nice 11/12 running with him. Old fella

Here are a couple of more that are close to your property. Couple of them ran with the kicker deer...

Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

txshntr, where do you hunt in relation to Eden? Running hard up north? Time of day? I figure the deer are going to be moving all throughout the day...
