Didn't see another thread yet, so let's hear what everyone in these counties are seeing. Please let us know what area you are hunting.

I'm hunting south of Lawn, just south of the Taylor county line into Runnels county. So far we have not seen any signs of chasing going on yet. Hocks are starting to looked stained and seeing a few scrapes and rubs. I didn't get to hunt this last weekend here, I was up in the Shamrock area. My wife and in laws hunted and didn't see very much activity at all.

Had 16 deer at the feeder this morning young does and yearlings all hornless. Had a little fork horn come in and get after some does. He ran every deer off. North of Doole in Coleman Co. Near river.

I'm hunting right off 83 in Taylor County just south of Ovalo. I haven't had much deer activity at my feeders in two weeks. Finally decided to try to rattle up some bucks on Sunday night, and had 3 does come bounding into my setup. No bucks showed after 15 minutes. Shot one of the does, but didn't notice any staining.

I'm in south Taylor in the hills by the windmills. Got some good pics during the night the week prior to the opener but have only seen does and a young 6 point since then. Hunted both weekends and some of the week. No more pics of good bucks night or day. They are not touching the feeders or plots and nothing is chasing the does I have seen. Hope it turns on with this cool weather. Good luck.

The bucks were starting to rut first week of season in Spurger. A guy shot a huge 14 point and my son missed a very wide 7 point.

Where is Spurger? The only Spurger I could find was in Tyler county.....not even close to Taylor/Runnels county.

It's getting a lil better at my place. Its been really slow the last three weeks or so but Ive started getting some pics of the bigger bucks. We are also getting more and more cars/trucks in that have hit deer. I'm planning on staying at the lease all weekend to see what's going on. maybe I can get a rattle session in without a jet from the base doin a fly over.

I'm in North Coleman County and i've been seeing some activity. They're hitting the estrus pretty well, seen a few rubs. We have a lot of acorns on the ground so I didn't even hunt feeders. Every deer I saw was from hitting the horns. Two weeks ago a light rattle worked well, but this week I had to hit the horns hard to get any action. Had a 135 and 150 come in to the same sequence. Would be down, but he was about 35 yards out of bow range.
Saw another young buck 3 times in the same morning going after a doe for about an hour and a half. Wouldn't quit chasing even with grunts and rattling.
I haven't sat on one feeder yet. I've been walking in, waiting 15 minutes, hitting horns, wait 30 minutes, then moving. Out of about 40 spots I've seen probably 2x more bucks than doe, and I've had about 10-15 spots where nothing showed up. I'm not quite sure where the rut is at, because I haven't seen many deer that weren't coming to horns. Either way, I'm hitting the horns and seeing some of the best, most mature deer on the property.

Hope this helps.

Sat morning was great for me. I really didn't see much else the rest if the weekend. We need a good cold front to get things going. I did rattle a few decent bucks in but I'm waiting for a certain one tho.I still don't feel like the rut is in full swing

Hunted saturday through this morning south of coleman. It was slow VERY slow. We saw a few button bucks and some young 1.5-2 yr old bucks but not a single doe was seen by me or my dad. Action at the feeders was non existant but did hunt some trails with still not much luck.

I took an older spike this morning but overall a pretty uneventful few days.

I spent all weekend in Taylor Co. Just had one young 8 show up on sat morning. No does running around. All year the big boys have been showing up in the cameras at different times, but the last few weeks have been really slow. They arent coming to the feeder either. I think this weekend will be prime though.

Stayed at Concho Park at lake Ivie last week end and the only decent buck 8 point 130 or so was trailing a doe.One small four point was eating corn with the does that some people had thrown out behind the cabins. The large buck was limping, figured he had been fighting.

I hunt south of Merkel and it has been incredibly slow for the last 3 weeks. We had been getting some goods pics before that. Several nice bucks and plenty of does, but even then most were at night. Now we're really not even getting that. Have some family that just spent 4 days out there...they only saw 3 does when it was light enough to shoot. Had a group of 7 does come to a feeder after dark one night. That's it though. Very slow.
