All these "expensive" duck hunting guns and ammo all have an 11% tax built in them that is given back to wildlife (Pittman Robertson Act). All these new hunters have to by licenses and duck stamps which is also given back. So whats the big deal with all these new hunters and expensive stuff?

I don't hunt public until the second split so I dont see all the "pressure". But all I see is guys complaining about all this pressure on the lakes and then say it doesnt matter because they weren't on the x. So if you still kill your birds what does it matter that there are ten other boats on a PUBLIC lake.

That is a good looking rig that belongs to a veteran hunter. I think this thread is more about all the "new boats" and "new hunters". The last two weekends I have been on the pond with a couple of young guys. They are good hunters and really nice guys.

My apologies if I offended you. You are not the guy we talking about.

lol i know its cool man just like putting it out there

Someone else nailed it. When it starts getting colder that will keep the wannabes at home.

Is that not the most ironic thing you have ever heard in your life?

Like it was said this happens every year. Opening weekend there was 10 boat trailers at the ramp. Sunday there was 5. Last Saturday there were 4 and last Sunday there were 3. I don’t think it mattered much because no one was shooting any ducks.

I also agree as it gets colder and the wantabe hunters get frustrated we will see less and less of them.

COME ON COLD WEATHER

Well, I can say that I ran into a group of guys on the local lake that I hunt on opening weekend. Got to the hole about the same time. They were setting up behind us and one of them walked up and said, "Man, if you don't move we are gonna be peppering you all morning," I said, "We got here at the same time." He said,"How about this, Y'all put them dekes up and come sit with us. We got plenty of room and wouldn't mind at all." I let my pride get in the way and moved on to another spot further down. I shot three times that morning and they appeared to limit in about 45 minutes....won't let that happen again. Nice guys, from Arkansas (go figure)tried to share and I thought I would kill em else where.

I'm most definately a second segment hunter, to me the colder the better, if there is ice on the water that is even better. I've got the gear to keep me warm in almost any situation north Texas can throw at me. If I knew I wouldn't make my wife mad I'd burn all my vacation to take the entire second segment off but my wife has no worries because my boss wouldn't let me do that either......dang if I was just self employed......
