I was at breakfast the other morning and was over hearing some hunters at the table behind me talking about taking more than 1 buck in a AR county. We're in Erath and its 1 AR buck and a spike. These yahoos were saying if they take a AR buck and ANOTHER comes out they'll just tag it with the next county. Can they get away with this. Does TPWD research where you killed your buck? If these guys get stopped by GW and its tagged from another county what does he do?

It's an honor system basically. He can question that all he wants but I don't see how he can prove that a deer was killed in a certain county unless he witnesses that truck pulling off a certain piece of property or unless that hunter can prove he was on a certain piece of property.

It's an honor system basically. Sad but true. I took an AR buck to the locker the other day, didn't see a GW or anything. They have no way of knowing if it was a spike or a trophy; I could have put down either on my license. Same day I saw a truck with three sets of antlers in it, and they were fresh. Smallest set would not have been close to 13" inside. But I doubt there was anything that could have been done at that point.

Make all counties AR bucks.... that would help alot of deer get some age on them... and keep my cousins from shooting 2 1/2 yr old 8 points

If the GW decides to investigate the situation, the land owners in both counties will be ask about the permission these hunter had to hunt their property and what dates they were taken. These cats better have a good buddy in the other county that will attest to the buck being taken on his property.

It's 2 bucks, one with at least one unbranched antler and one with an inside spread of at least 13". I'm assuming they're talking about 2 "trophy"(13" spread or greater) AR bucks from the same county and writing a neighboring county on the tag

Just quit shooting dinks!
This comment was not for anyone in this thread, just an observation of some people.
To the OP, I know people that do this. It's like speeding, sooner or later you may get caught.

i know this sounds like a stretch but there is a thing called DNA and it can indicate where the animal came from .... i think i read an article where they used it on someone .... if they ketch ya with a buck over a hundred inches taken illegally ... do you have any idea what they want for restitution/recreatinal value ? nevermind the fines ....its chump change in comparison to..... a $100 an inch .....if you aint good on math ..... the bucks recreational value is $10,000 at 100 inches maybe you remember the yeehaw that killed the monstre 224 muley years back in a no muley county ..... braggin got him busted and the buck was 224 .....yes he got a bill for $ 22,400.... careful boys they take this kinda thing serious

Hell no! Worst idea I've heard all day. Amen!!! Yeah makes since to let management deer inside 13 continue to breed and water down the population. If everyone would just stop shooting young deer there wouldn't be the need for ar!

I got a better idea...eliminate all AR counties and make them all one buck counties. Pretty simple aye? Let the hunter/leasee/land owner decide what is proper to shoot on THEIR land. Eliminates all government intervention
In my oppinion the land owner should have the right to determine what and how many deer he wants harvested. He paid for the land and pays all the taxes on the land. He also, obviously, knows the better the quality of his deer the more he can charge for the leasing rights. Simple economics.
Just my thoughts

Just my thoughts I agree!!! Tyler County was a 2 buck 2 doe County prior to AR's and would have accomplished the same thing, (increasing age structure of bucks), by just lowering bag limit!!!
