Daughter took a nice 8 point and while field dressing i found the bullet just under the skin on the opposite side. here is what it looks like. i'm pretty impressed this is the second deer we have taken with this load and they both did the same thing, no exit but a lot of internal damage.

Looks like there's not much left of that bullet, except the jacket. Did you weigh it?

Expended all of it's energy inside the animal. Nice! How far away was the shot?

How far was the shot?
Although there isnt much of the lead core left, at least it didnt separate from the jacket!
I dont like finding bullets, I want there to be a hole through and through for blood trailing. At our old lease if a deer only went 50-100 yards 99% of the time you could watch them go down. At our place now all they have to do is make it off the road to disapear. If they go 30 yards with no blood its fun, if they go further it gets funner.

he was at 45 yards when she pulled the trigger. I know what you mean about a through and through shot for the tracking purposes.

45 yards is close for a light fast caliber. I would consider that good bullet performance. If you streach that out to 150 or 200 yards it probably would have done better.

To heck with buck-a-bullet stuff....I'll shoot that greenbox stuff all day in my 94's!!! And Ill kill what I shoot too! Great ammo, dead deer, and enough cash left over for gas and beer.

I shoot the exact same ammo out of my 25-06 and while I've never shot anything that close with it. I always get a clean pass through. Animals go no more than 20 yards, and they do minimal damage to meat....In my book, that's about all that counts.

I load my buddy who is a Game Bio/Guide in Pleasanton..he has a Rem BDL 25 which we load w/RL 22 and 100 grain Barnes..mostly TTSX but some X bullets..he did recover one on a very large Whitetail he took at range and it was about 86 grains after traveling thru the deer, spine and shoulders..I think he shot it with the animal facing away..anyway, that's the only one he's ever recovered. I shot Core Loc in round nose for years in a 7 Mg. and had no issue with them, but I did occasionally loose a well hit animal...I've since changed where I shoot them..DD
