I hunt in Freestone Co. simply because I live here. I have a couple of nice 120-130 inch bucks on the wall from this county, but It really depends on where you hunt. You have to be realistic in this county. The tracts of land are just too chopped up and there are way too many "meat hunters". If you're not on a 800-1000+ acre place in or near a nice bottom, then you're probably not going to see any "shooters". That being said, I see at least a handfull of nice 130"+ bucks killed around here every year. But that's usually locals.

I guess there's alot of poachers in that county. There was an individual that lived there that tried to get a nice sized buck head mounted. He did this off season and the taxidermist turned him in. TPWD fined him big time and took the buck away.

We only have a 120 acres to hunt. It is filled with hogs. I do see deer but nothing that is very big. THe doe are twice as the size of the bucks. We did see a nice 10 but the dudes who hunt next to us kills what ever moves. They shot one last year i swear my dog was bigger than his deer. So in a situation like this what would yall say to do.

Where abouts in the county are you hunting?
If you're hunting on 120 acres you're always going to be dealing with neighboring hunters. My suggestion is either get a bigger place in a better part of the county or look elsewhere. There are just simply too many hunters per acre in this county. Look at TPWD numbers and you'll see what I mean.
The poaching that was mentioned in the other reply was from the Richland Creek WMA. A number of people had seen the buck and if I'm not mistaken there was even a photo of it. Anyway the dummy that poached it tried to get it mounted at a "local" taxidermy shop. What an idiot! The buck scored over 180"...did he think no one would question where it came from? That being said, Richland is a really good public hunting area!

My family has some land in Freestone county anbout a mile east of Teague on 84. I killed my first deer there and ran all over that place as a kid and teenager. I now hunt in San Saba county, although I do still visit "the farm". I am working (slowly) on getting a food plot going there so I can start bowhunting for my does. They are twice the size as the doe we have in San Saba, and we haven't been issued a doe permit in ten or more years in freestone, co...
The number of hunters per acre (as mentioned before) is the main problem in freestone and surrounding counties. We have 130 acres, and used to hunt it with as much as 6 hunters. A deer crossing our place didn't have a chance. Or we didn't depending on the wind. Now the most I want on it while hunting is 2 people. And I prefer to have it to myself when hunting. And we see alot more deer now (funny how that works).
I do not know what my point is here just relating my experience. I know that when we got tired of spending the time, money, effort, and didn't see any more deer, we wnet west to hunt. We have seen more deer, better deer, and have spent alot more money doing so (lease price, feeders, time, gas, etc.).. It is all relative!

In the 120 acres there are usually only about 2 hunters down there. It is my uncles and I then only that really hunts. I have 3 feeders and got a food plot going after several trys. What else could i do to help get the bigger deer get there and stay around.
