Went hunting this morning and saw this up in a tree. There are abunch of these flying around and I dont have a clue what they are. This one was hanging in a tree with a limb stuck through his lower beak. Does anyone know what it is?

I just looked it up and that's what it is. The lake I hunt is covered with them and I didn't have a clue what they are.

Aka window licker, baloney snatcher, etc.

Nasty bird that destroys a bunch of stuff but is protected.

is it possible there was a baited fish hook hung on the branch and he was dumb enough to swallow.

can't imagine one just impailing himself on a tree limb, of course stranger things have happen

I thought the same thing because there were some old lines hanging around but I didn't see one on that limb and when I walked up I saw the limb in the beak.

Acording to one of my friends this past weekend it was a goose. We were hunting on the river (and no way is geese ever killed where we hunt) and one came down the trench...he was shaking in his boots. I just let him think what he wanted until it came right over the decoys..he felt stupid.

Cormorants,

Aka boogerpickers like they like to call them down in eagle lake.

They eat fish, sleep in trees and really stink like rotten fish.

Q: What do you call a water turkey hanging lifeless from a tree?

A: A good start.
