lets get the talk back to hunting. what are your goals animals wise this upcomming year? its my turn for a trophy whitetail, i hope to take one over 150 this december, although with the lack of rain it dosen't look good. i saw one last year that will push 160 if he did't succumb after the the rut. there is also another slick eight tht will be in the high 140's, low 150's that i would cap in a heartbeat. if i don't get a whitetail, i'm going to try for another axis, one that would beat my 29' that i have already. that and a butt-load of doves

Nothing less than a 9 point, and some hogs. I will let my kids and wife kill any deer that need taken out. If they get a shot at a nice one great.
Oh, and nothing younger than 3.5, hopefully 4.5. Just don't know if I can hold out.

Well, I just got back from a spring grizzly hunt on Alaska's Seward Peninsula. Got a nice bear: 8'10" and 25 5/8" green-scored. In Sept, it's Wyoming for bighorn sheep in Unit 5. Then in Oct, blacktail deer in Humbolt Co, California. November, I'll be chasing Texas whitetails. In December, it'll be pheasant in Kansas, and still, Texas whitetails (perhaps). All in all, a full year.....

I am hoping to get my first White Tail Buck this year. Also, a few hogs and either a Axis or Black Buck would be cool!

There were a pair of nice 10s spotted the last weekend of the season, my buddy took one, so I plan to take the other.

The big one I saw last year but couldn't get a shot. I hope he's still around!
And a decent boar. I'm yet to get one with nice cutters for a Euro Mount.

Do you prefer hiding in the crepe myrtles or the kids corral during your stock? White or wheat bread?

Every time I go out for white tail, I manage to end up somewhere with a bag limit of 1. I want to get more than one, if I can even get out this year.
And some hogs.
And at least one predator.
TBH, my goal is just to get out. Shooting anything will be a bonus.

Well I'm a "meat hunter", I don't eat the horns and seeing me deep freeze went out two nights ago! I lost everything!
So I will be going to South Dakota to hunt pheasants for a week at my brothers place in late October. A week after that hunt I will be in northern Minnesota to hunt deer with my father on our property.
Then to return to Texas a week before Thanksgiving to treat my father to a hunt in west Texas. At 54 he can't wait and brings it up everytime we talk.
After deer season I will be still trying to stick a pig out on lake lavon. Pigs are still 15 chevk4 0.
Needless to say it is going to be a busy fall but well worth it and fun.
God bless our troops

I think I have the best chance this year to take my biggest trophy buck ever. Which is not much compared to some being that I haven't even killed a buck over 110 before. This year I will hopefully let the arrow fly on a 140 or better. This past season was very successful for me and I was able to get quite a few does taken for the freezer. Next season brings forward a new ranch and a bunch of wonderfull oppotunities.

I would love to get one of the two double drop tined bucks seen around our west TX lease as season ended this past year. We may not be able to keep this lease after this upcoming season, due to all the costs, so maybe a nice muley too.
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I will have the best chance at some hogs and some yotes. And with some good deer added in there. I have to take care of some of the hogs on our place, its getting out of control.

Whitetail buck 4 1/2+ years of age. Several does, a hog or two, another turkey, and maybe an exotic if the right one walks by.
