Am I the only one in TX not killing limits every time out? I hunt private ( hunted public forever and got tired of the rat race; besides now my son is with me) in the central part of the state. I would tell the county but I figure I might get yelled at. We haven't seen more than 2 dozen birds each of the last 2 weekends. Don't get me wrong. I love watching the world wake up with my son and our dog. We've had a great time the last 2 weekends sprucing up our newly built blind. I was just wondering if anyone else is seeing very low duck numbers so far?

BTW, we shot over 200 birds on this, lease last year.

This mornings take

It's still early. I haven't had a limit's worth of opportunities on a morning yet. Birds really haven't started migrating yet, that I can tell.

I think alot of people are waiting on this front to blow on through and see where the numbers are at. I know we havent seen the big numbers down on the bay so far this year.

I hunt public in the center of the state too, seen a few birds, mostly teal and gadwalls, only shot one limit and that was a fluke, I think most everyone I talked to today around here had a rough day. Keep at rm and you'll have a good season. Still warm here ya know

No you're not the only one...

I too hunt private, and we rarely limit out. Ducks are "migratory" birds and some days are good on our pond, some days are not. If you don't want to chase them, then we get to take our kids and our dogs to our blinds, enjoy the sunrise and the birds we see.

I for one, am very happy to do just that. Taking my six year old for his first hunt in the morning. He has been waiting for two years to get his turn as his older sister waited. It will be great regardless of the number of bird taken...

It's been rough sledding in North Texas. Things are looking up with some cold weather coming. Just hang in there.

It is slow all over except for the special few on the forum. I am in the real Cen-Tex and all of my buddies are struggling too. Just wait it will improve.

It was real slow for us this morning as well. Werent even seeing many birds flying. All we managed to shoot was a spoonie hen and a sprig. Ive only shot one other sprig in my life so i was still pretty pumped! Monday will be the day to be out there.

No, you are not the only one.

We shot 54 ducks on opening weekend. Today, a big fat skunk. No one in the area was shooting today. All of the birds have left the area.

But as someone said, there are cold fronts on the way. It just seems weird hunting in short sleeves on the second weekend of November.

Good luck to you the rest of the season. You will get your birds in soon enough.

I have been shooting limits last week and this weekend and there are birds around but you have to find them. I have been hunting public but have spent more time scouting than hunting the last three weeks. One lake may not have many ducks but another one close by will have plenty, it's just how it is right now.
Yesterday, shot our duck limits and a couple of snow geese, fun morning but not so fun pulling my boat 300 yards in 2-3" of water the last two days. Had to take today off, too tired to do it three days in a row.

Have a 30 acre lake holding a lot of ducks in cen-tex but only hunting it once a week in hopes that we don't burn it out...that's the only place holding hunt- able # of ducks in my area.

I'll never gripe as long as I can just get out there. Most of my trips usually yield one bird, especailly this time of year, when the cold weather gets here that changes, that's why I love hunting when the ice is on the water.......
