bayourat...You are absolutely correct. This guy came out at FIRST light on Saturday morning. I looked at his body features and the front view of his rack and decided to let him pass due to age. Saw him 2 more times that morning, but just watched him and never even looked at him through binoculars or a scope. Well, that night on trail cam I had a pic of him from the side...right in front of the cam and started kicking myself.
Same time Sunday morning I saw a buck taking the very same route. I thought no way this could be happening, but I promise you the first thing I did was throw up the scope. It was a sideview and I nearly fell out of my stand.
Pittdog-This is only my 2nd year to hunt Hamilton County and was led to believe 130's was the upper end to expect around there, so needless to say I'm a little beside myself and cannot seem to quit smiling !!
Forgot to add in my original post-He weighed 140 lbs field dressed (scale at the processor) and they estimated 160 lbs on the hoof. That's a personal best for me as well. This is one healthy deer (in my opinion) for a 3.5 year old.
If this is any indication of what Hamilton County has to offer, may I spend many more years hunting in that area!!

Turk103- I hunt closer to Gatesville and have always heard the same about size, but seems more and more deer are coming out with good scores. Really impressed with your deer.

Thanks for everyone's kind replies.
I hunt close to Bosque County myself though I am officially in Hamilton County. Closer to Cranfills Gap than Hamilton off of Highway 22.
Beautiful area....

Have you had a chance to score this buck yet?

I'm probably gonna get shot for this, but I got home late Sunday night and took him straight to the Taxidermist on Monday morning without ever scoring him.
I will, at some point, have to stop back by there and put some numbers together. Ya'll have peaked my curiousity with all the input.
I will definitely follow up as soon as I have some more information...

Thanks Darrell...been MANY years! I was due for a nice one and I sure cashed in all my chips at one time.
Was sure neat to share the experience with my oldest son as well. We've been together every time either of us has taken a buck.
Definitely some healthy competition (and trash talk) between us, but always great bonding time!

Awesome buck! Did you cut open the stomach just to see what was on the inside?

Great buck love the character me three!

stxranchman-I will call first thing in the morning and hopefully have us all an answer by tomorrow evening.
Tye-Yes I do and yes it is nasty. Kind of a last minute thing after I'm done field dressing it. Sorry, but I gotta know what they are feeding on outside of all the "opinions", so I take it to another level....
