I shot a nice 10 point buck on opening morning. I have shot does in the past, but this was my first buck large enough to get mounted. I took him to the taxidermist that morning with my tag attached to the antlers, and then took my quartered meat home and has been on ice draining for the last couple days. I would like to have this meat processed into sausage since he was an older buck, but the tag is with the taxidermist... What do I do?

Tag stays with the meat always.

Tags must stay with the meat, however your taxidermist has a form he must fill out with all tag info in case he gets checked by the local GW.

I don't alway hunt but if I'm not I'm fishing.

Get the tag from the taxidermist. It has to accompany the meat.

This, the taxidermist will only need your license number and harvest data for his records in a cold storage log.
