I hunt on family land by lake Georgetown and this year has been fantastic. Good horns and plenty of deer. Rut is starting slowly and I'm sure it'll be full blown in next week or two. Need a cold snap to get them going good. Biggest I've seen in person this year is prolly mid 140s. My biggest since 1996 was 2 years ago and was a 10 point that went 147". I'm hoping to top that this year and I'd say the odds are looking good. Where ya hunting at?

Nice! Im not too far away.. I'll be north of you in Jarrell on the west side of the highway.. my brother and I have hunted our place for the past 15 years and never been patient enough to let anything grow. We are old enough now to start letting these deer grow. Luckily no one hunts around us so we have been seeing more and more. We also have pig problems but we do a good job taking out as many as we can.

As much as I would like to hunt, time and money are tight. I live on the SE side of the lake and have seen plenty of healthy deer. Best bucks I've seen have been on the NE-E side of Lake Granger.

Not much. I've only shot a couple of spikes in the last 4 years. Last year, I passed on a deer that was barely above AR and also let a big 10 point walk just because I had never seen one here, and I would have had to shoot him from my front porch. It didn't feel right. East side of I-35 has low numbers.

Well hopefully the deer are moving this weekend. I'm gonna hunt Friday to Sunday.

I also hunt in jarrell and Florence. Mainly on quarry land. Your be real lucky to have adjoining land that doesn't get hunted in that area.

There is a small piece of the county down in the South Eastern side that has plenty of deer. Lots of people don't really think about this end of the county near Thrall, Beaukiss, over to Shiloh and back up a ways. Its probably the only part of the county that is sparsely populated. Its pretty much where the blackland prairie ends and the post oak savannah starts. I've lived here all my life and enjoy hunting here more than anywhere else.

pretty sure I know your family going off your screen name. Do you hunt on the quarry off 487 if so there's some good deer that come off spears ranch but has gotten tougher because every house in spears bowhunts like crazy.

Haha ya my grandma live right there in front of cooper stone. That backs up to spears ranch...which backs up to a high fence place... But we used to shoot good bucks back there till my family sold it. Now I'm hunting off a county road in between 487 and 195
