Is this HF or LF, Don? I have some family friends that may be interested.

Don,

We are a 4-5 father/son group(8-10 total) looking for a meat/cull/spike buck (3-4 deer) hunt with lodging for less than 1000.00 each. Begnaudjr@gmail.com. Thanks for your time. Any help would be appreciated.

Martin

The drouth has been broken here in Austin county, with nice summer rains. My cousin in Kerrville said they are still dry there. How about Bandera, is it still in drouth conditions?

It is getting real dry here. There has been some rain around but not right here at the ranch. Hopefully this next week things will turn around.

The rain early this year was good for the animals health. I don't think the dry weather now hurts hunting. I have the idea it makes the better bucks more likely to come to the feeders. It sure seemed that way to me last year.

The deer are still doing good. We had a real good spring and early summer. The tanks didn't catch much water but the grass, brush, weeds and forbs did good. Hopefully tonight we will get some rain. I have been dozing at a neighbors and the dust is killing me.

I've started wearing a bandana on my face when I shred, and it helps a lot. It's rough when your going downwind. Well did you get a rain Saturday night? We got a gentle rain for most all night and again Sunday morning.

Bandera County by the Lake got about 3 inches of rain last evening and early this AM, but my buddy in Tarpley only got 1/2
inch..It seemed to be on the East side of the County and West of
Bexar going So/So East..toward Pearsall & Kennedy...Should improve everyone here habitat for the local wildlife and maybe
bring back some birds..but I think it's a little late..I saw a
article in our local paper talking about a bumber crop of sunflowers and birds..I don't think the folks that write ever go
outside..only sunflowers I know about are over in Hondo on an irrigated field..DD

I got 1.9" last night. Flowed a little and put some water into my recharge dams. That guy just outside of Hondo on 90 toward Castroville has a goldmine with his sunflowers. He must do really good being able to irrigate them for dove hunters. I hunted doves a few years ago across from Mummees on 173. The amount of white wing coming out of Hondo and going to feed was amazing.

The bucks have all splint up and are rubbing and making scrapes. But the buck that Heath got yesterday had not started pissing on his hocks. Jobin got a spike this morning that had to be at least a 3.5 year old deer. Around 10 inch cow horned antlers and his hocks were also clean.

Thanks Jobin. I too enjoyed the hunt and you got a couple of good Does and I am really glad you were able to get that spike. Thanks again and hope to see you again next year, Donald
