Alright from a tech junkie..let me put it this way.

Simpler is best for hunting!!!.. a decent dual caliber release is all you need.

I shoot better with higher end more complex type head releases but that's in a controlled target environment were time and variables are easly worked through.

When it comes to hunting....the most simple is best

I think I have a TruBall wrist release. All I know is it works great and accuracy is consistent.

Last year I switched to a thumb release, and it's the best move I have made yet.

Currently I'm shooting a Carter Big Kid (now replaced with the Target4). I am comfortable shooting with it. It is simple, and reliable.

Good practice habits translate into good hunting habits. Small things like keeping your finger against the back side of the trigger to prevent misfire during draw and remembering to keep a good "T" no matter how high up you are.

My favorite release was the TRU extreme pro handle...until some how I found a way to shot it through my bow....

ROFL.

I have one of those and I just can't get used to it. My have to try a back tension during the off-season.

I can't believe nobody has said a Scott release yet. I just switched from the Little Bitty Goose (very good by the way) to the new Wolf, equally as good. The Littly Bitty is a single caliper against a hard wall which keeps the string straight left/right. It is very accurate. The Wolf is a dual caliper, and a little more comfortable trigger location (more modern). It is equally as accurate as the string is released without any deflection left or right. I tried Scott's Silverhorn NCS, which is a hook that grabs the string loop. A lot of folks like this style release, but I do not, and it's not as accurate. Furthermore, it does cause a slight string loop deflection towards the face just enough to get a small amount of arrow oscillation like shooting fingers, enough that broadhead impact was altered. Switching to either of the other two releases previously mentioned noticeably tightened field point groups and allowed broadheads to impact the same point as field points.

The trigger on a high end Scott release is unlike anything else. All three triggers, on the releases above, were outstanding, even the one I did not like.

In fact, if anyone wants my Silverhorn as I know people like this style, I'd sell it I guess. I bought it half way through last season, and it looks like it's right out of the package. Message me if interested.

I have been shooting a Rhino since Scott first came out with it and love it, but have been thinking about trying out a thumb release.

SNAFU,
I don't think that's a high possibility, but you're only option is to carry a second release. Fingers require a completely different set up.
