Hays Co: 0-12 Jim Hogg Co: 12-60 I corned a sendero one cold, drizzly morning. Within 30 min there were over 60 deer on it and 51 were bucks. Crazy. OMG!!! That's awesome!!!

Last year I think the statistical number was 7.7something per hunt.
Around 45% of those are bucks.
If you are managing, these are numbers you should be tracking year over year.
As an aside, the most deer I have ever seen at one time is 70-something in an oat patch in South TX post rut.

Do you guys count deer seen on the way to your stand or back in, or just while sitting? Especially if you are trying to manage your land.
Thanks

Thanks Only during the sit. Most important thing is that you are consistent in your metrics so the trending numbers mean something from yr to yr.

Most I have ever seen at one time was when I hunted a ranch in the early 80's that was on the Nueces River east of Cotulla. They had a 200 acre oats field along the river and it was covered with deer all day long. One evening coming in I counted to 200 and quit counting. Most were doe and fawns.

Ranchman, that reminded me , I saw something similar at the YO when i was a HS student in the early 90s, but I discounted it since most we're tiny and malnourished.

I don't think I saw 10 bucks in all those deer that I could see horns on with the naked eye. That ranch had never allowed does to be killed. It was over run with deer.

South Texas lease, Webb/Zapata county line - 15-20 per sitting, usually 5-10 are bucks.
North Texas Young county ranch - 0-3 per day.

10-40.. Also depends what ranch we are hunting. Our high fence ranches are crawling with deer, it is not unusual to see 200 in a day.
