howdy, i hunt in burnet county and i was just wondering if anyone else might know when the rut starts or started there? i was also wondering whether rattling, grunt calls, or estrus bleats would be productive this weekend? i have had limited success with them in the past and wondered if maybe i just wasn't doing it right haha. one last question: has anybody used the c'mere deer 3 day harvest attractant? i was considering buying one, but couldn't justify spending the money on it. Thanks in advance for any help!!

dont waste your money on c'mere deer most deer have no idea what that stuff is and I have seen it sit in a pile uneaten on my cameras. Buy a bag of corn, it works the best. We arent into the rut yet so I am not sure how effective rattling will be. I did see two bucks fighting recently but rattling might do more harm than good before mid to late november. grunts and such might be good for stopping a moving deer, i wouldnt go to heavy on them opening weekend.

Ok, thanks! That's the approach i've taken most years on opening weekend it seems like the rut has always kind of started with the first cold front around here so i thought maybe last weekend might have sparked the start of it. I started college this year so I wont be able to spend every day in the stand like previous years, and i'm trying to maximize my hunting time as much as possible.

Some of the guys on our lease swear by Deer Golden Nuggets... We put out several bags of it via a road feeder in some fields we were hunting over..
it worked, no doubt about it. I generally think that kind of stuff is all marketing BS trying to take your money.. but at least on our lease, they literally came out of the woodwork to hit it for several days..
We put some in a protein feeder and they were like babies on a bottle!

Best thing to do is sit and watch as often and long as you can.
