Just reading another thread and it got me thinking... Is there anything else in life that has ever made any of you shake and get your heart going like when a big buck steps out?
I just got married last weekend and when she came down the aisle she was shaking violently. I think she was more nervous about having 200 sets of eyes focused on her than anything. My heart was thumpin good but no shakes. Then at the reception her dad was shaking so bad during his toast his chammpange was spilling out of the glass. Those were the only other times ive seen it.

Secondly, no, nothing hits like when your frozen and buck fever hits.

I had a good case of it last saturday afternoon. Had a massive 8 point (Easily P&Y) toying with me, I had my bow out and ready totally focused. Some does came by and he dropped in behind them and left me in the dust. I hung my bow back up and the second my hand came down my legs nearly came out from underneath me. I was shaking like I was standing naked in the arctic. I had to sit down, just to get myself back under control.
I LOVE THAT FEELING!!

Her Dad was not shaking from the bill he had just got for the reception.

Heading down the middle of the field after catching a deep post pattern with two defensive backs hot on your tail.
Thankfully, I can say I was never dragged down from behind.

I know its called buck fever, but I get it with buck, doe, and hogs too. Bow rifle or smoke pole it dont matter they all get my blood running.
When I shot my buck last year I had my wife(fiance at the time) with me and she thought I was gonna have a heart attack, kept asking if I was ok..

My heart thumps like crazy but I can usually keep the shakes down until after the shot then it hits me. I've had to stay in my bow stand for an hour. Everytime I stood up my left foot and leg would shake uncontrollably. I would have to sit down so I wouldn't fall. Awesome feeling!
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

If it ever stops getting me excited, then maybe it's time to give it up.

Never happened to me in all my years of hunting. Feel sorry for you. Why do you do it? I knew a guy in hi-school who said the same thing about being with a woman(in the biblical term) ... after that I always wondered too things 1) if you dont get anything out of it why do you do it and 2) OMG! is he flamer?

Yeah the day I had a scimitar oryx momma and her baby chase me on foot. That was not cool.
Or the time I thought I had found a dead young male oryx on the ranch and it turned out to just be really sleepy in the warm sun on a cool day.
Or the time I shot at some hogs at night the first time only to find out how many there really were in the woods in my vicinity and how crazy they can run around just wanting to get away. They were going everywhere!
Or the time I had my daughter shoot her first deer. I was shaking more than she was for sure.
Or the time my son shot his first pig at 80 yards with his .223 and using his bipod rest. It was a great shot.
But no I actually don't get nervous when I'm preparing to take a shot myself. I don't know why but I have puked a few times after the deal was done. For me it just seems to hit after I have taken the shot and not so much when I see the animal and I'm getting ready to take it.

Hmmm... aside from a big ol' buck giving me the perfect shot?
The time I fell off the back of a 40' barge backing into a slip and could feel the props sucking me in. XD
Just a side note, from the brides perspective... I would think that walking down the isle is comparable to landing THE buck. Once the ring is on... the kill shot has been made.

Buck fever is by far the worst. Lol. But I can say that nerves give me the same feeling. I work for a PD in my area and went to a gunshots call. When I got out of my car and started walking up the street, I heard 6 gunshots that were way to close for comfort. Gave me the same feeling as buck fever, although it was not as fun as buck fever. lol.

I don't get buck fever anymore and that is not to say I am not excited, I just don't get the shakes. And please, never again compare marriage and deer hunting, outside of your child being born, nothing compares to deer hunting, including marriage.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?
