Anyone ever bought a 10x10 metal shed, floored and insulated it and used it as a small lease cabin? Seems like it would be cheap and perfect. Throw a rug down, a couple cots, a propane heater and you are good to go.
What do you think?

Why not just build one?
But I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

Would probably work if you insulated it well enough. I doubt you would get much sleep in a rain storm if you didn't.

We had one on a lease but it wasn't al metal. It had wood siding. It was insulted and sealed. The propane heater would burn you out by morning. Held 4 bunks, and a round table with chairs. Worked dang good. Had another one next to it that was kitchen and "dinner room". I would plan to do something with grounding it, and even some mobilhome tye downs. Big storms will not be fun either way.

Sounds like a good deal. Where did you find them for that price, and what size is it?

The metal garden sheds like you see at Lowe's? I think they would be brutally hot in warm weather and deafening in a rain storm. And the 10x10 sheds I've seen lack headroom unless you're only 5 ft tall. And no windows for light.....
A shed might be better than a tent, but just barely.

Very thin materials also. Check at some of the building supply companies for kits they sell for cabins.

Granted, it's a Morgan building, but metal nonetheless, and the inside was framed with 2x4's which makes it much more stable. That's something you could do yourself, install a floor kit and some insulation. You'd prolly be good to go. Let me know if you wanna see a pic of ours.

I can think of a lot of reasons. I would find a friend that knows enough to build a wood structure with a shingled roof. In the end it will not cost you much more by the time you add a floor to that metal kit.

My wife and I bought & assemblied one of these kits for additional lawnmower/equipment storage. It was not a simple 30 minute project in the least and easily spread out over several days. The first kit we got did not have anywhere near all the pieces, the second kit had too many pieces and some that were not predrilled properly causing some undue stress upon the parties assembling, or should I say trying to assemble. But we finally got it all put together. Be sure you follow the instructions closely when assembling.
but as was stated earlier, these typically are rather short in height but might make for a good shelter to get in out of the weather.

Check out 84 Lumber's shed on their website... http://84lumber.com/Home/BuildItYourselfers/StorageBuildings.aspxThe kit provides everything except paint and place to put it.

The Chinese guy writing the directions of the one's I've built must of had dyslexia, cause those directions sure weren't very accurate. Back to topic, I'd be afraid of the wind, those things aren't very sturdy, but it would keep you dry.

Watch using those propane heaters in a small space like that particularly if you seal it up with insulation etc.

I have some plans for a 12X12 or 12X16 that is basically modular so that you can build the walls in 4 foot sections and the roof. Works perfectly to build at home or in the yard and haul it to the lease in the truck bed or a trailer. Then assemble at the lease. Also you can get some great deals at the Habitat For Humanity Resale stores the one in denton is called Barts Barn.

I have built several from scratch. Not much to it. Plywood floor, 2 by 4 studs, 2 by 6's on the roof and 22 gauge tin on the outside. I used a radiant barrier with insulation behind it. Bought a cheap window, for a window unit, and a cheap door. It takes my son and I about 2 1/2 days for a 12 by 20

I'd go with the Morgan Building first. For $200.00 more you could get this one: http://www.lowes.com/pd_383724-57658-182440_4294720408__?productId=3651611&Ns=p_product_avg_rating|1 Another alternative to the steel shed is the outfitters tent Tent 1 Tent 2 Tent 3 Tent 4 Da Ritz (Last Tent)

if you are talking about one of the sheds at lowes... pass on it.
I bought one that was 10x10.
Came in a 6'X2.5' box. Took me and my dad 1.5 days to put it together and we are both fairly handy.
Spend the money on a decent one. I think I paid like 325 for mine or something like that. It works great, but I sure would not want to use it as a cabin. It is extremely flimsy and "cheap"

You just NEVER have enough room when it comes to a cabin. Go bigger! Go with a wood cabin type thats moveable on a car trailer, you see in sales yards all along the highway. Long term, it may be a bit more $$, but well worth it. Something that can be moved lease-to-lease, or even sold outright. Besides, you want to be comfortable, don't you?
