Yall are correct, I hunt 3 to 4 states a year, there is no requirement to stick the stamp on anything, you can even leave it on the paper it came with. TPWD makes it nice for us my leaving a spot to stick it to, Arkansas makes it tough, there's not a good spot that it doesn't cover something else.
Signing across the face is once again to prevent people from sharing stamps. Otherwise guides or similar people could just have a roving stable of stamps that people take with them for the day. Once you sign it, its yours.
Now that we've brought up different states, remember that in addition to licenses in each state, you have to HIP register again in each state. That one is always easy for me to forget, I have lifetime licenses in two states, and have to do the HIP each year.

1-800-852-4897 is the number to the place in ft worth that distributes the stamps.

Just got an email back from Tammy (the lady that Scuba refered me to)
Chris,
Your Federal Duck Stamp was mailed out on 08/23 to the address you provided below. Since it has been two months and you still have not received it, we can put in a lost stamp replacement request and re-issue the stamp. I will put the request in today and will have another stamp in the mail for you today. You should receive it in a day or so.

I was in the same situation , called , talked to Tammy and she is sending a replacement stamp . Very professional and superbly friendly . A refreshing change of pace from the usual governmental communication channels.

that's good stuff.
just make sure you look at all of your "junk mail" until you get your stamp.
I almost threw mine out.

Get your stamp at the local post office! Sign it at put it on your license and you are good to go
