Never liked a glock and never will, their accurate reliable and a weapon you can depend on. But I will not now or ever own a plastic pistol.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

If another reliable manufacture would develop a 10mm auto I would have another option but until then I'll hold onto my 29sf for a long while. Am ticked after 20 rounds the amount of holstr wear...

I too have XDm's. They seem to fit my hands better and are much more comfy, accurate and reliable as well. I still would like to get a 17 or 19, though.

Glock guy for life played with all the others and nothing compared (to me) trying to get a xds and xdm 5.25 to try. Shot the shield it may replace my 26 soon very impressive.

When I hold a Glock I feel Like That Guy On The "Burger King Commercial"

I had debated between the Glock and the XD - ended up getting a great deal on a G19 and couldn't be happier. I have a buddy who has XD9's - he was over the other night and I showed him how easy it was to detail strip the G19 - he was amazed. I said "I'm sure your XD is similar" and we looked it up on youtube - now he want's a Glock smile

I Love my glocks I would never sell my glocks , I just love to be able to stick a 33rd mag in one and switch mags from a 19 to a 26 and my glock 20sf always goes hunting with me as a backup.

I have to admit when they first came out I felt they were Dang UGLY lol. But I did get one of the first few in San Antonio. And even though I still think it is UGLY lol. They just flat shoot. And I also like the way it feels in my hand.

rofl

If XDM didn't have a grip safety I would try one. I won't own a defensive handgun with a grip safety.

There is a member on another board (blitz_308 on arfcom, there is a 30 page thread with pics etc.), who was involved in a shootout after guys tried to rob his friends. His hand was shot so he couldn't squeeze the grip safety hard enough and had multiple malfunctions while engaging the bad guy.

There is a reason Glocks are the choice for most competitive shooters, police and militaries around the world. They are simple, accurate and will run, run, run, and run.

Wow, now that's a read!

I sold my 1911 because of this also. It also has a thumb safety. Long story short- there was a jewelry store owner shot and killed in FL. The perp came in and up to an employee. The store owner drew down on the perp, and was trying to fire his gun. He had forgetten to take the safety off. The perp shot him and killed him. It was all on store video. I sold my high dollar Kimber 3 days later and bought 2 more Glocks! I'll never own another pistol with a thumb safety or grip back strap.

Now althought my "go to" pistol is a g21, I do also love me some 1911's. I wouldn't hesitate carrying a 1911 if I knew it would always be clean and well protected from the elements. My glock on the other hand is "a beater". It's been mistreated by me and the misses on occasion and he has yet to malfunction ever. It's cheap(inexpensive), accurate, and reliable. For those 3 reasons I'll use the glock more. And if it gets scratched up I won't mind at all

Let me get this straight, Glock lovers drive very complicated vehicles and motorcycles with numerous things to go wrong and most of you are not mechanics but yet your first choice for defense is a Glock because of its simpicity?? I hear of practice and training yet a safety on a 1911 is too complicated and you might not remember that safety in a moment of excitement???? Also hard to visualize that I can't hold a pistol tight enough to activate the grip safety yet I will not limp wrist it when firing???

Good points here.

Not really, the only reason I drive a "complicated" truck is bc I can't find a '76 3/4 ton Chevy that hasn't been to hell and back....if they started building trucks that simple again I'd be first on board.

Plus, I've never worried that my truck's complexity could maybe get me shot.

Ramball, Maybe you should start worrying, this is Halloween. In most horror movies there is someone who gets 'kilt' because their vehicle won't start, or gets stuck because it lacks 'Positrak' differential. smile On a serious note, I feel certain that someone has panicked trying to avoid an auto-jacking or couldn't get to the hospital on time due to a vehicle malfunction, simple as flooding the engine, same as folk who had firearm problems mentioned above.

Over half the people on this forum don't remember a manual choke or throttle, but the automatic choke was a boom to many motorist until it didn't work due to the fact it became gunked up.
