Anyone have any thoughts about this pistol? I am thinking about getting one.

Fairly heavy for such small framed 1911, but very sturdy as well. Somewhat snappy as with any .40 cal.
You getting new or used?

I have the EMP in 9mm and love it. Extremely accurate, easy to carry all day, and IMO very light. I like the stopping power of the 40 over the 9mm and would rather have a 40 but I got a great deal on mine. The 9mm weights 26oz and the 40 weighs 33oz so there is an almost 1/2 pound difference.

I love mine. Carry it every day. In fact it is on my hip right now! Its a little heavy but that helps with the snap of the .40. I traded for mine, basically $900 for it. I easily passed works 50 round full qualification, which goes out to 25 yards, with mine.

Hogfan1, I would like to buy new but I need to save a little more. Or Romney does not win.

I would probably buy new as well. I don't come across very many used ones often that aren't shot a whole lot. People tend to like them and shoot them a lot accordingly. But if you find a gently used one, pick it up, otherwise I agree with buying new!
Great piece. You'll like it.

Own one as well...no issues!
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect. Some people live an entire lifetime & wonder if they ever made a difference in the world, a veteran doesn't have that problem. Reagan

I found a used one for my dad on an auction site. It is a very well made gun, but for a carry gun I think there are better options for less money. A Kahr K40 for example, or any of the various single stack 3rd Gen S&W's (3913 comes to mind- there are too many number soup combos to remember). Dad wanted it for a carry gun, but I don't think he ever actually carried it. I got him a Kahr CM9 and the EMP sits in the safe unless we go to the range.

I have been looking for one for about a year. I have tried out other pistols but this model seems to be the only one that will not slid cut my hand when fired. Well, I found one at Cabelas this weekend and decided to buy it. I filled out the paperwork and went back to shopping. Found some other toys and ammo. I went back to pay for it all and my wife surprised me by saying she would buy the pistol for me. So now I am the proud owner of a new EMP .40. Now I am going to purchase a CrossBreed for it.

You might take a look at the DeSantis Intruder or the Galco KingTuk holsters instead of dropping $100 on a hybrid holster.
