Last weekend i aquired a lease that hasnt been hunted in four years... This weekend im going to set up my stands and feeders. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to draw in deer to my lease and get them coming to feeders... Im an experienced hunter just never had so little time to set up.. In the past ive had a ample amount of time to get things going... I would really appreciate any and all help.
The lease is in morris county right inbetween dangerfield and mt pleasant. Its 163 acres planning on having three stands on the place. The rancher has planted a deer mix for us that should be sprouting withing the next few weeks. It was a mix of clover oats and winter rye. Two ponds on the place with 2 dry creeks running to a large creek (boggy creek). Again any help and pointers would be appreciated.

Corn should bring them in! The food plot the rancher planted should help too! Hope this helps!

Where is the food plot in relation to the fence lines? Where is the creek or thickest area that you think the deer might be bedding in? What does the surrounding land look like?
Hunt the wind as best you can, stay out of their area, give them plenty to eat and let them be comfortable. You will do fine. Do you know if the neighbors hunt? I am pretty sure that even if this place hasn't been hunted, the deer still know what a dinner bell sounds like.

The neighbors do hunt the food plot runs dow a tree/fence line there is a large ranch to the north of use and east texas woods all around the other side we have alot of trees and the place next to me (one w hunters) is pretty much grown up from what i can tell they hunt a power line that runs through both mine and their property. The rancher put the food plot on the the fence line that we share w the other hunters in hopes of drawing them out of their woods to ours

When we set up feeders in a new area, we always make sure we set them up so we don't have to walk by them to get to our stands. Only time we go near them is to fill them up and check cameras. Less pressure the better and feeders should do the trick. We have had deer come to feeders the day we set them up, but it will take a little time for the older ones to show up.

Try and set up at least one feeder between the food plot and the bedding area. Look to see if there are any established trails they may be using to get to where the food plot is. This will be my first yr hunting a new stand and I did just this. I am seeing more deer on cam than anyone else and I've also pulled two big bucks off another hunters area. Food and easy access to it will give u a shot at lots of movement.

Also be careful that u don't by accident put the stand or feeder directly in the bedding area.

1. Set your feeders to throw alot of corn
2. Take sacks of corn and leave a trail of corn out to the nearest deer trails from your feeders.
They hit the trails of corn while passing through and follow it to the feeders.

They hit the trails of corn while passing through and follow it to the feeders. This is true.
If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

You probably have deer comin through if its not been hunted in 4 years. Find a fresh trail to set up on. I had the same situation 7 years ago. I laid down a 10 pnt the second weekend of the season.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I would suggest to take some time scouting and planning your feeder/stand locations smartly (wind) using current habitual trails to lead them in. Yes corn will certainly draw them in and thrown 3-4 times daily in short bursts mixed maybe with a long burst to help them realize that there is plentiful food at times and they will check the source often.

In the short term, look for movement patterns and scrapes and rubs. And if you can find the does, you will have found the bucks. Put out some game cameras to confirm your guess on where the deer are going to and from. Long term, start feeding corn. When we bought this place I could hardly find any sign of deer, but I put out feeders in a few places that looked promising. Honestly, I didn't see significant numbers of deer for a couple of years, but it appears that they eventually changed their movement patterns to include my feeders. From that time on, hunting has been real good. The corn brought deer and then brought pigs. The amount of squirrels rose significantly, which brought the coyotes. It did take a while, but I have lots of game now. I just wish I didn't have so many pigs, but I brought it on myself I guess.

If you can find it in your area try apple corn.
Regular corn works just fine, but I find that the deer will come to the scented corn a bit quicker and actually prefer it where I hunt.

It could be a couple year project, lots of corn and deer protein, mineral rocks and good water supply, usually get them used to eating a certain place at a certain time

As good as corn is for the money I'd mix in some protein with it. I will tell you they started out slow on the protein last year but now I am going through 1600+ lbs of protein in my gravity feeder every 6 weeks. I filled it the last time the first week of Sept and I put up hog panels to keep hogs from getting at it since from the pictures they were camping on the feeder. I refilled it this weekend so they are still pretty much on track with only deer eating it. We have a pretty poor acorn crop this year so the protein is getting no rest. My .02 and good luck.

The clover food plot your land owner planted will really pull them in later in the season. That stuff is like a deer magnet.
When you are competing with acorns (which you are in East Texas) food plots are the best early season chance you have to get deer in daylight. Wheat and oats work good for me. I also plant clover for later in the season.

Well, did you see any deer out that way? Thinking about getting a lease in that area next year.
