haven't tried them. If you got them, dump some out and see what happens. Let us know how it goes.

Deer will eat them. Might eat them right away or might take them awhile. But if you have coons and hogs they will love them as will other predators.

I just put a bag out for grins last year and it worked.....deer and pigs found them over night. I cut a couple up so the sweet smell would attract them better, dont know if it helped.

We have alot of apple orchards here in Missouri. The largest deer I ever saw (17 pt NT, 291# live weight) was taken on a path leading out of an orchard into some thick hardwoods. Was told later the deer was nine years old. Hunter got him very shortly after first light. Unfortunately we can not place apples (or anything else for that matter) in hopes of attracting deer. Had my son turn off our feeders about a week ago for that reason.

I use hole apples and the deer love them. The funny thing is they seem to like the granny smith apples over the red delicious apples.

I cut em in half and stick em on the barbs on the fence or on thorns/branches in trees to keep the hogs off. They like pears too.

Deer love apple and pears..lots of other fruit too. I would wait for it to be cool outside before dumping a bunch of them. They will rot and the bugs will get to them in this heat.

I had an extra bag last weekend at the lease so I dumped them just to see if it could get animals to start hitting my feeder. I also poured vanilla extract over some stumps and limbs - we'll see...

It's funny how you do/try something and then its on the THF! Just put a dozen apples in my pen last weekend and made sure the TC was working so we will see! I also put out 50# of acorns and whole ears of corn and persimmons.

I cut up apples, stuff them in a stocking, pour molasses over it and hang the stocking about 6' off the ground. The molasses drips and makes a lick and the scent of it all brings 'em in.

OK dont beat me up to much. I often wondered about introducing anything to an area that wasnt natural for that area. Does a deer know what an apple smells like or that it tastes good. I would think if you were going to try this you would do it in the off season and get the deer used to the scent. If sucessful use it as your lure before the season to get them used to coming to your area for the goodies.

I threw a bunch out once. The deer sniffed 'em and turned their noses up, headed to corn. The hogs, however, ate 'em up overnight.

I worked produce when I was a kiid and would take the old apples out to ur place. This was before the hogs went invaded. It took a long time but the deer did start eating them. They would eat the other greens before they ate the apples.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Depending on where you hunt, you might be surprised on how far a deer will go to eat. They know where the persimmon, wild plum, and other wild fruit areas are. If there is any wild fruit in your 4 mile area, I would think that apples or pears would be very natural to them.
I wonder just like you, that if the deer are in an area where none of this stuff exists how it affects them. I am pretty sure they will like the apples and pears if they find them, but will probably treat the area like a feeder. Meanign the mature bucks might only frequent the area at night.
We have several apple and pear trees at my spot in kansas that came from old homesteads. They are a very good place to hunt in the evening and morning (that is when most fruit and acorns drop). I have witnessed mature deer run off smaller deer from their pear tree "honey hole".

They love them when I throw them out. I quarter them up. Actually had a game cam pic a few years back with a buck with a piece of one in his mouth.
