Ok guys about 10 days ago me and my boy went to the ranch and we have a bad hog problem in the back outside the HF so I bought a Elusive wildlife feeder light that goes on the bottom of the feeder and by 5 days later it had drained the battery so much it wouldnt spin the feeder and light was barely visible that AM for my bow hunt. So my question is for those of you that use it do you just turn it on the day your going to hunt or do you use a seperate charging and battery system for it or what cause it would be much easier for me to leave it on but the main feeder battery with a dang good solar panel isnt enough. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated, thanks in advace.

I've always preferred bow mounted or rifle mounted lights for exactly this reason. I'm pretty sure a standard solar panel deer feeder charger would work well in your situation though.

Yeah we have those but I really like the idea of just watching under the feeder and when they come in pull out the gun with a light on it and not having to use my gun or a hand light to scan the area but thats just me trying to make it easier.

if you use the C size batteries in it then it will last a little more than 5 or 6 days. if you use a feeder size 12 volt then it can drain it over night. not sure why but it does. elusive wildlife suggests using a large (auto size) 12 volt battery and a larger than feeder battery size solar panel to keep up with the lights use. i added a motion sensor to my EW feeder light which helped with battery usage but on a busy night then the battery and solar panel could not keep up. here is the hands free kit they sale but i am sure if you call them then can tell you what you need to add to your setup. http://www.elusivewildlife.com/products.htm?section=22&p=productMore&iProduct=204

i have gotten away from the EW feeder light. i like the motion types better that don't/won't drain my batteries as bad. i have the wildgame moonshine light (solar panel assisted) that i keep going even when i am not hunting and add some extra lighting when hunting. example: http://www.firstchoicemarine.com/p-63582...CFexFMgodaGYAVgi also have a gun mount kill light for the ones that are scared to come into the light under the feeder.

Yeah we have winch up feeders and a real hog issue as in about 70 that have been coming in so that wouldnt really work for me. Im thinking of making a ammo box with spare battery and panel to just run the light and test it out.
