So this weekend I went to my lease in Nocona, TX. I hunted Saturday morning and night. I didn't see a deer. I know what the deal is. I checked the cameras the deer have been at the feeder every morning and night for the last week. Anyone have slow hunts? I also hunt down in Yoakum,Texas the deer down here are already chasing does and the bucks have split up. But up north the bucks are still running together.What's the deal guys?

I haven't seen any bucks showing any interest in does at all (North Texas). I did see two young bucks sparring for about 30 minutes, but that's the extent of it.

I went the whole opening week without seeing a deer or hog. Very few even oncamera. Was thinking about going this wknd with the cooler weather coming . Been sad so far.

I am getting reports from East Texas they say bucks are chasing. The South Texas deer are running some in Victoria/El Campo area. I don't know if its acorns dropping or they are in hiding! But it has be slow. Deer still moving at night mostly.

The rut occurs at different times in different places.

Hays Co. (central) the rut starts in late Oct. Go down south and it doesn't kick off until the week of Christmas. Some areas along the coast the rut is already winding down. Areas of west or north Texas it may not kick off until sometime in late Nov. or Dec.

It does not kickoff at the same time across the state.

slow in east texas here(gilmer) caught movement at 3 am a scrub buck and a nice doe..

Found a fresh scrape Friday in Knox County (north central). Some buck photos from game cams in Kent county (north west) are showing swollen necks and blackened tarsal glands. I think that the rut is getting close, and with the cooler weather coming next weekend, I expect some increased activity.

Texas is unpredictable...We have a small property in Henderson county we farm and the bucks running solo but are lease in Haskell the bucks still running in numbers so who knows

Coleman was also slow this weekend...lots of acorns and not coming to feeders.

I was fishing a bass tournament Sunday morning on lake Bob Sandlin and seen a doe with a buck following maybe 50 yards behind her. This is the first buck I seen following a doe this year.
