Does anyone know if the goose hunting around Lake Lavon and the surrounding areas is good each year? Thanks

Lavon loosly translated in Spanish means a "whale's v..." no that's not it, it means "no geese".

call a hunting store or a bait shop on the lake or in the area and ask them. Or the GW for the county. We smart asses have no earthly idea. No one on this forum is going to tell you nothin cause you named the lake, yadda yadda yadda, hornets nest, yadda yadda. So funny.

But I'm think I'm spot on about that translation.

Ok well let me rephrase my question. I just acquired some private hunting land with wheat fields outside of the public hunting on Lavon. How's the hunting now?

Still no geese to my knowledge, well numbers worth hunting that is. You may pick up some snows late in the season

I didn't pay anything. They let me hunt it for deer but I doubt there are any there. But I figured being right by the lake ducks and geese would be a sure thing. Late dove season will be good also

The best thing you can do is go watch with binoculars. If they are hitting the wheat or really close you can get on your place and set a good full body decoy spread. It doesn't have to be that big, quality would be most important in that situation.

What do you know, I know a guy that goes by wal1809 on here and he just so happens to have a whole spread of Canada, mallard and pintail full body decoys. I heard he is pretty ugly but a pretty nice guy. He might be able to show you how to set up on a wheat field to beat the crap out of some Canada geeses.
