Was wondering if anyone uses landscape lights attached to feeder
legs to kill hogs at night? The lights that are solar charged.

Just replaced mine. Done that for years and killed many hogs. Just changed out my old lighst with the spotlights from Wal-mart. 2 lights are plenty enough to shoot a hog with scope on 9 power. From my experience solar lights work ALOT better than motion lights.

I use solar lights on all my feeders for hogs, get the ones that have rechargeable aa batteries,if you need too you can put regular batteries in them while you hunt, they will stay on for days, when you leave put the rechargeables back in.
It's still "we the people", right?

me and my buddy used solar land scape lights from 100 yrds out can see everything under the feede through scope.

Walmart ...ten bucks apiece...you can hook à 12 volt marine battery and à 12 volt solar charger to multiple lights...theyre led and has lasted me multiple seasons ...just open battery compartment ander hooked wire from inside to battery..i will post pix later

Did the hogs take to the lights right away or did it take some time for them to get comfortable?

I take à softer light put it out on à dusk to dawn photocell ..let them get used to it ...and turn the stronger light on when i come back in à few weeks to put out the hog bait

There are a few places on the lease I hunt where a light would be the ticket. We'll have to give it a try. We've already set up feeders, and game cams show a lot of activity.

I have these attached to a couple of feeders and on t-posts near each of my hog tubes. Lots of meat in the freezer with their aid! They put off plenty of light for a scope. My tubes are all within 25 yards of my bow stands, but I have set up in a box blind on a rainy night that was 70 yards away and still had a clear view. I like to set a t-post about 20' from the t-post that my hog tube is attached to, between the tube and my stand and slightly off to the side. Attach the light to either the t-post itself or to a board, rebar, or PVC to get it up 10-15 feet. I have them both ways and both work great, down low and you get a bit brighter contrast for your retical, up high and there are less shadows and the hogs (and deer and coons) seem less jumpy. From time to time a coon will rip the solar cell off, but 5 minutes with a soldering iron and some electric tape and/or super glue and they are back in action.  http://www.walmart.com/ip/Paradise-Garde...-Black/21069274They should be going on clearance at wally world any time now, if the are not already. 10$ each..you can open it up and wire it with a 6 volt batery..and a solar charger ...be careful not to arc hot wire across small pc board..it will blow circuits if it arcs....good luck

Depends on how for your setup is ...I have these same lights set up with a 6 volt battery on a feeder leg ..and stand thirty yards away ...open sites and its plenty bright ...also ..I have a 12 volt L E D strand off lights rigged and hooked to a 12 volt marine battery that i will turn on when i get there ...the pigs get used to thé above lights and thé L E Ds are much better also i will pour out 5 gallons off soured corn right beside lite ...with ten boxes of strawberry jello sprinkled all around thé corn

Best of luck, -ww Any more information on these lights? Is one enough per feeder? I usually use only one light per hog tube, but I my stands are only 25 yards away. On one property we have two mounted on top of each feeder aiming straight down and you can see pretty good from 100 yards but it is more of a silhouette without a bunch of detail. I like being behind the lights much better. Another thing about having a light on all the time at the feeder is that the hogs don't notice a weapon mounted light as much so long as you are not swinging it around a lot. Use the feeder light to pick one out, then light him up if more detail is needed, and take the shot. -ww

I do not think this would work the same day I would set them up lol.

If the food has been there and they are actively hitting it then they most likely not care at all. Usually the youngsters will charge on in regardless and if mom is unsure she will circle a bit, if she is still not happy then she will pass on by while grunting for the kiddos to come on. Unless you are holding out for a big pig there should be plenty of time to get a shot off.

Wader I am not a fan of Big Pigs lol. Unless we wish to have Coyote Bait lol. And it is Deer Season pretty much so Shooting Coyote is not the plan. Only if we see them in our sights.
And I know I might get Burned for this lol. But I would rather take a Hog than a Deer lol.
And by the way those Little Babby Piggies are Dang Hard to hit as they move around ALLOT lol.
Weekend before last I got a Piglet of oh about 10 pounds or so which was not easy at 130 yards with my Marlin GS in 45-70 lol. But it was sure GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD Eating lol.

I forgot to ask lol.
We have All Seasons Feeders of which has been set in the same place feeding now for over 3 years. Should I mount 1 light on each side of the barrel facing straight down?

My wife has forbidden me bringing home any pig that will not fit in the oven. On the feeders we have a 4-5' length of conduit screwed across the top with conduit clips and metal roofing screws with rubber washers. The lights stick out each side of the feeder and are held to the conduit with hose clamps and/or galvanized electric fencing wire. Wrapping a good bit of electrical tape around the pivot between the light and the stake will help keep the coons from constantly re-aiming your lights for you. -ww

Try some soured corn away from the feeder with a light on it...pour strawberry jello on corn..thats unless you already have hogs coming in...but the soured corn will attract them a little faster..
