Kinda an odd topic, but what goes through your mind after shooting a monster buck. Do you thank God for it, jump up and down, ect... Just kinda seeing what emotions people go through. We all know the adrenalin and the feeling, just wondering if its a God moment or how people feel.

My adrenaline takes over and I don't take a breath until I find my buck. It is def a god moment and being thankful for the harvest after that. Oh, and dont forget the bragging rights when you get that buck back to camp! CAB!! (Cold Adult Beverage) Time!!

I feel all the above. I think people that don't hunt do not understand how it brings you closer to God, because its his creation you are having to out smart and most importantly how it gives you a profound respect for these animals.
Does anyone have any "ritual" or sign of respect that they pay to the animal? Not trying to sounds all weird and stuff just wondering what people do. I mean after all we spend all this time and money trying to out smart these beasts.

Time to celebrate with a Coors Light!
Bragging at camp is over rated. We are all happy for each other. We all hunt the same stands/blinds and most of it is luck/happinstance after following the basic rules of good deer hunting.

I usually call one of the ranch hands on their cell to come and let me out of the pen. After that I have breakfast, complete the paperwork/payment and then drive home.

It is for sure a GOd moment for me. After I shot my monster last year, I called my wife first and told her I got him and told her I thanked God for the gift he had given me. But there are plenty of other things going on at the same time. Your head will be swirling with all kinds of stuff.

Dang I think I remember the buck you posted last year... not sure what I would do if I shot that!

Time permitting...I pray that God lets me make a clean shot before hand. Assuming that prayer was answered...I then thank Him for the opportunity and for all He created. Then a phone call to the wife...text to the guys and back to camp for a cold beer.

I'm not sure because I've never shot a monster because they do not exist in Deep East Texas.

Still looking for a real monster so can't answer that. I have taken some nice deer but my standards for a true "Monster" are pretty high.

Never shot a monster by my standards but I don't do much different than any other kill. Go look at, walk to truck, load it up, clean it, and go look for some thing else to shoot. I mostly hunt alone and don't get real excited about any kill.

Shot my first mature buck last year and the first couple of minutes were trying to piece together what the heck just happened. Did I hit him, did I shoot him in the neck, OMG, was he 13"?!!!! But when 25 years of dissappointment and failure finally culminate in a perfect kill, it feels like the weight of the world has been lifted off your shoulders. I just shook like a rain soaked pup and smiled, oh how I smiled.

I thank God for the opportunity to hunt and kill after most kills. Last year I killed my largest buck ever 10 minutes before sunrise opening day. Yes I was pumped, but then followed a real sadness because I was for all practical purposes done for the year. Thanksgiving I saw another buck bigger than the one I killed opening day and just watched him for about ten minutes before he just strolled away. He is my project for this year!
