Sitting in the ground blind yesterday evening (and sweating profusely). 15 minutesbefore the feeder goes off deer start milling around about 80 yards off. FEEDING TIME! Here come the deer! Within 5 minutes I have 20 deer at 25 yards or less and one of em is that big 10 i am after...just waiting on a clear shot. Then comes a loud crashing sound of brush to the east, all heads go up then all of the deer bolt for cover......a stampede of white flags off into the briars. I then hear MOOOOOO and im like well son of a *#&%+!!!!! Now i have 20 cows around me and one is 15 feet from me. Get my scent away fresh earth aerosol can from my backpack, get her attention and as hard as i can throw it i hit her in the face with it. Cows run off. Sit till dark but deer don't come back. Stupid cows!!

In years past cattle owners used to segregate their cattle to smaller pastures away from the hunter areas. They leased the propertu for income and used to show some respect towards the hunting aspect of his ranch. Hard to find these grateful landowners sometimes. Most just have to deal with the critters and hope the opportunity presents itself again

I keep rocks in my pocket... needless to say, I have the cows trained. They know when I'm there, and stay away.

I was standing next to my feeder pen with a buddy the other day when the cows came in, before I knew it a cow and donkey had trampled the fence and the donkey almost tore it all down trying to get back out. cattle panels were too expensive so we went with the 39" hog fencing, bad idea. We ran then off, with the help of some flying logs, but I just know they went back to demolition mode soon after we left. I hate them as well and will try to make arrangements for them in another pasture if we stay on this lease.
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

We have cows and they dont bother the deer at all, the deer feed even when the cows are feeding even at about 100 yrds away. Never had the cows spook the deer of at all.

I hate cows. Not as much as sheets and goats. Absolutely!!! Goats are terrible but sheets are something else at the feeder. I know what you're talking about.

Go get you a blunt tip for your arrows, or a slingshot like mentioned earlier. They both work.

I had 2 hunts ruined last weekend, one by 2 donkeys that got rid of the doe at the feeder, and the next day the ranchers 3 horses came to my blind, one tried to open the windows, but when she walked around the blind and triped over the tie down rope she emptied the field

I hate them. I hate them. I hate them. We have a beautiful lease. Cabin, water, lots of deer, ect, but they are turning this place into Cow Town and sometimes it will ruin a whole weekend of hunting. Could be worse though. wasn't cows that ruined my weekend at the lease, it was the 2 cheerie pickers checking the Power lines form the local Power Company and the owner and a damn cement truck pouring concrete bases for cow feeders the whole weekend. Have pics put they are boring and I am too lazy to post them...

I would NEVER advocate doing this but I've heard stories of guys that kept a few old arrows tipped with thumpers in their blind for just such occasions.
As the story goes, you can hit a sheep or goat just about anywhere and they'll leave. On a cow, it's said that you have to aim for a more sensitive spot.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

I've been using a Slingshot for several years I'm surprised how far they will go.
As long as you can get the first one to turn around you're good to go.

I used to be on a place with aggressive cows, they knocked over 4 feeders and bent the leg on one pretty bad, also was in the stand one afternoon and felt the stand shaking and the cows were rubbing up aginst our stand. I hate em all now I'm on a lease with no cows and vitally no hogs.
