I'm all over the place at 30 yards (4-5 inch group of three arrows). At 10, my arrows are touching, and at 20, I can shoot two inch groups consistently. Is it the shooter, the bow, or the arrows? The target arrows I've been shooting (gold tip XT hunter) each have a slight ripple/wrinkle in one of the fletchings. Being relatively new to archery, I think I may have caused this due to knocking the arrow to the bow string upside down (top fletching facing downward). Anyway, I've got a few extra arrows I haven't shot yet, so I'll give it a go tomorrow. But if you have any advice or tips on shooting accurately at 30 yards and beyond, feel free to throw it out there. I'm going bow hunting for this first time later this week, and if I don't start shooting more consistently, I won't be taking a shot at a deer outside 20-25 yards.

What type of rest do you have? Ialways have the [censored] feather aligned with the string.

Do you punch the trigger or squeeze it? do you shoot on the inhale or exhale? I don't think the vanes have anything to do with it.. Ive shot arrows with only 2 vanes on them and they still hit where the others did.. when you shoot ask yourself those basic questions.. I'm not trying to act like I know it all but I switched back to my thumb release because I had the same issues.. besides a 5 inch group at 30 will still kill a deer..

first off if you get a lighter you can quickly heat up the fletching and they will straighten out. or you can dunk them in a pot of boiling water.
Yes I believe your hitting something with the fletching and that’s why there wrinkling up. you can spray some foot powder on the arrow and fletching to see if its making contact. Try shooting with the cockfeather up.

Straightened out the fletching and was still shooting inconsistently. Did some more reading online about basic shooting techniques and learned that my grip on the bow was all wrong. Made some adjustments and am now shooting better/more consistent at distance than I ever have. I have a 2.5 inch group at 30 yards with two arrows inside the 3 inch bulls eye on my block and one just outside. I'm excited to be hunting tomorrow afternoon for the first time with my bow and I've got some new found confidence at 30 yards. I'll be sure to shoot a broadhead at the target tomorrow, just to make sure it shoots the same as my field tips.

Mine are wrinkled and I can hit a paper plate at 60 yards. Not consistently but when I miss it's only 3-6 inches off at the most. I have a extremely cheap setup. Just keep practicing, maybe a bow tune up.
