Mine was breaking the 170" gross with archery.....happened to me in 2010 after many years of hunting free range deer. At that point, I thought to myself....if I never killed a deer that big again, I would be ok with that.

Fast forward to last weekend, I was sitting in a tree stand (first sit of year) a hour into the sit, does started feeding into my field. About 40 minutes later, out steps a mature buck, which I had to watch for what seemed to be hours (actually only 2o-25 minutes). The deer presented me with a broadside shot. I took it and recovered the deer.....only to find out that I had broken the 170" gross mark again.

The 170" mark and free range is still what I consider a deer of a lifetime....this year's deer had a lot of junk including uneven sides, unicorn type tine coming forward and dried/hanging velvet on his rack.

What's your deer of a life time?

I can't tell you.

I haven't shot it yet

My favorite buck was a 7x7 typical that was chasing a doe I took in 2003. He was a native Hill Country buck that scored 177 gross. Course he won't count for some since he was HF. My goal now is a 160+ main frame 8 and a 200" Mule Deer. But I ain't stopping hunting if I don't get them or do get them. I have had a life long goal since I was 6 or 7 yrs old of 50 deer mounts. I am getting closer to it each year with just over 40 now.

That buck was given it's own classification in the record books, he came out of New Mexico. He just missed being 50 inches wide and is the widest mulie on record. The buck holds claim to the world record for the Burkett System for displacement of water with the antlers weighing 13 1/2 lbs. Rumor has it that mount sold for close to 150,000 dollars. I would have given it another year.

Just about any deer that my son shoots when I'm with him. So far it's a spike but maybe this year he'll get himself another one.

I really just enjoy spending time with him outdoors. I know that soon enough He'll be a teenager and know it all so I want to enjoy what I have while I can.

My dream deer would be a 150" - 160" mf 8pt. I'm not greedy so double drops are optional.

The buck I dream about is the first one my son shoots. He wakes up everyday talking about deer season, he is 4.

I would be pleased with a 160+ Buck off of my ranch. I got close once but they are few and far between.

I would shoot a 150 class 7 point and have it shoulder mounted. I have seen pics of a 145+" clean 6 point killed on Bowman Ranch in South Texas. He was 24+" inside with huge brows and long G2s. I would shoulder mount that 6 point also.
